Multipla 1.9 JTD 2002 105 bhp - Remote Locking by Key Fob not working now.

Was working fine the other day, now (both key fobs have good batteries) now no longer work. Seems like they are no longer in sync.

I don't have the four digit security code.

Same thing with my Nemo. The fob will go periods without working, so manual key time, and then suddenly springs back to life. Not sure it's a coding issue... Not sure what it is, to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if yours works again tomorrow!

hi,:)
is that 1 remote that doesn't work..or BOTH..??

Minirib the immob. expert has mentioned dry solder joints in keys before

BUT if BOTH keys have stopped together it COULD be a different issue,

on of our European contributors had real problems with electrical noise / signals blocking the remote in certain postcode locations also..:bang:

Hi,

Both key fobs will not unlock/lock car.

Both fobs work as I get a steady red light on both, on my other multipla when the micro switches went the fob led light blinked funny. This is not the case for these key fobs.

Mine works manually ie starts the car but does not disable the alarm, which goes off soon after start up. And i dont fancy drving around with the alamr siren going off and lights flashing..

As a temporary measure to stop the alarm being a nuisance, can you not disable it via the keyswitch on the bonnet slam panel? The handbook says that you can also (separately) disable the interior volumetric alarm by:

Key in ignition, turn it from 'STOP' and then quickly to 'MAR' and back to 'STOP', then remove the key. The red LED on the centre dash will light up for about 2 seconds to confirm the action. This is then remembered by the car until you 'unset it' by:

Key in the ignition, turn from 'STOP' to 'MAR' and leave it there for at least 30 seconds without starting the car. No mention is made of the LED lighting up on the dash to confirm the action. Sounds a bit vague to me....

That sounds like the microswitch problem that varese mentioned; not the issue for the OP. It can be resoldered with a fine point iron. Somewhere on here there's a link to place where you can even buy the correct microswitch. It is damn small though - you'll need good eyesight and a steady hand!

Thanks. Having read the OP's comments again I realise it's a different issue. I'm happy enough (since my Nemo doesn't have an alarm) to have some manual key days.

Hi,

This has something to do with the alarm unlocking/locking. The car seems to arm itself when I turn the ignition on. The led on the dash starts flashing then stays on and then the led stays on & then the alarm goes off.

On my other (blue) multipla, the alarm led on the dash only starts to flash when I arm the car and it flashes until its dis alarmed, then stays off even when i start the car.

The multipla with the lock unlock problem seems to be arming when I turn the ignition on. If i open the door without putting the keys in the ignition the alarm does not arm or go off.

I wonder if the reciever is workign or not or is it the alarm (remote lock/unlock) ecm thats had it ? Wondering if i can swap it ? where is it ?

Hi guys got a 2007 multipla diesel , battery ran down, new battery , and alarm wont re-set, engine starts then approx 20 sec later the alarm /sen goes off................ I contacted 4 fiat dealers 'wheres the siren located' one surgested under windscreen scuttle others the n/s front between the headlamp , all no joy......conctacted NBS auto services botley........... they replaced one a few weeks ago............ location o/s front inner wing area under the headlamp........... so Ive taken the head lamp out and bobs your uncle........ ( ive never known what that means ?) but quote it regularly........:):) I pulled both leads off and 'happy days' .
The car starts and runs so at least I can investigate what the original problem is .
hope this helps someone (y)
