how the hell do you get the rear light cluster of an 04 multipla off , the o/s brake light bulb has gone , but good god i can't for the life of me work out just how the bloody hell you change the bulb :bang: , yes i used the forum search function and google search but it came back with every model of fiat except the bloody multipla , i really could do with a hand as i'm stuck with something so simple as a brake light bulb

I haven't had mine off in a while but IIRC there are a couple of 10 or 12 mm nuts you need to undo from the inside, which are easily lost inside the panel!
However changing a bulb is straightforward...the bulb holders twist or clip out.
Marty.

yep i took the nuts off but theres no way on this earth the cluster will come off there is a bit of play in it but it'll move about a quater of an inch then thats it and i've pulled, twisted , wiggled an jiggled the bulb holders but nothing

You don't have to remove the light cluster from the body. There's a large (approx. 30 x 10mm-ish, from memory) rectangular socket moulded on the back of each bulb holder, which you can see/feel through the access panels on each side of the boot. Even the largest of screwdrivers is too small to properly fit in them. I use an old (& very, very blunt!) 1" chisel instead. Give it a quarter turn & the holders will then pull out. They are pretty stiff on mine.

Getting one or two of them back in is fiddly because bits of the inner wing get in the way.

Yes they are a total pain, agreed...
I may be mistaken but there may be 3 nuts, and they are quite awkward to find and remove, the type that comes off and falls down into a black hole immediately...
For a plastic fitting like this there are usually 3 fixing points, so dont pull, till you find a good small torch and a mirror..good luck!;)

thanks for the reply's , i reckon i'll have another fiddle with it and probably a bit of swearing at it..............then take it to halfrauds to let them do it :D

i'm afraid it's physically impossible to change the bulbs without taking the cluster off as there is no bulb holders as such , the bulbs all sit in a moulded piece of plastic which you can't take the bulbs out from behind and there is 3 nuts holding the cluster on , 2 of them are easily visible and easy to get off through the access panel but the 3rd is behind the carpet which you get to by removing a plastic grommet but you'll need a deep 10mm socket as it's in a recess :bang: i didn't have a socket to hand so i ended up taking the carpet up till i could get to it , anyway a picture speaks a thousand words

and the third one which is very nicely hidden and i was surprised by the amount of water inside the lens so i'll be chucking some silicone round it , when or if it stops raining

Dont bother with putting the bloody things back in properly - just use a few blobs of silicone around the outside edge and wipe it in. Then you just need a Stanley knife the next time ;)
