hello,

firstly let me introduce my self, im craig, i have had a multipla since november,

i have a fiat multipla, JTD ELX 110 1.9 DIESAL,

the following problem started about 3-4 days ago and wanted more opinons,

I can be driving along, or starting out, or even reversing, the car looses some power and then regains its self,

sometimes the engine mangement fault comes on,

my dad (mechanic) thinks its because the fuel filter is looking dated and could be allowing particales through to the engine, (the filter is on order and waiting for delivery)

has anyone had this?

lol sinny, thanks for that :) - dont the engine management light need to be on for the error to show up?

the light isnt on permantly!

that link is no good, my diesel is 2001 - fiat multipla jtd elx 1.9

It clearly states on the AD that diesel 2004 upwards!

OBD will work on your car. The standard was universally adopted in 2004, but many manufacturers (Fiat included) adopted it well before then. Don't forget those cables aren't specifically for the Multipla, so the seller has to cover his a*se.

As for the problem with your car, it may be a fuel supply problem. I'd also check your TPS (throttle position sensor). Click on the green search button at the top of the page, then Advanced Search, then search for Potentiometer. Set the forum filter to Multipla to narrow things down.

Wot der Fwog said - but DO NOT be tempted by the BlueTooth variety of 327. They're a PITA. Go USB.

thank you for the replies, does the engine management light need to be on to see the fault or will they be stored?

If you use multiECUScan all error are stored even if not lit up on dash ?

Selling my beautiful black 17" alloys, any interest?

And you can plug in your laptop and take it for a drive to recreate the error if not

My Multipla has recently developed similar symptoms. I have now done a few long journeys at high-ish speeds (and high revs) and the problem has gone away.

I believe you can call it an Italian tune up, or in English, a good thrashing. I guess froggie was getting bored with all the slow school runs.

I had to do the same thing years ago when I had a Yamaha RD350LC, though the problem wasn't down to school runs.

Give it a try, nothing to lose!

Good luck,
Dave

I had a similar issues a few months ago. On long motorway journey's I would suddenly start to lose power, knock it down to 4th and give it some revs and it sorted itself. After reading other symptoms on here it turned out my EGR valve was stuck open. A £3 plate of eBay sorted it out completely!
