Had a quick inspection under the car and found what ive identified as a rear shock absorber bush has fallen out and is rattling around inside the spring!

Can anyone tell me what its there for and does it need sorting urgently? ?

Thank you

It's probably the bump stop. It used to be the case that you could only get them as part of a complete subframe, but recently they're available separately. Check ebay - Febi ones are about £8-10. Before you do that though, check the metal 'turret' that's part of the subframe, that the bump stop fits into. Often it's rusted away, so you'll have nothing to fit a new bump stop to. If you're lucky it's the old bump stop rubber that's perished and the top nipple has come off it.

That said, if you don't carry heavy loads it's hardly worth replacing them.

Hey buddy...thank you for the reply. That's exactly the part. Little rubber mushroom kinda thingy. Beyond the three small children and their school bags there's rarely anything heavier in the back. Guessing I'd have to take the spring out to replace...seems like a pain in the butt for such a little thing. Perhaps it can wait
