Hello,I used this site a few months ago to diagnose a crank shaft sensor problem. Which is fixed perfectly for £13 saving me loads;)
Anyway a problem has started with the accelerator. Driving a few weeks back and a warning came up on the dash saying engine control faulty, and when you pressed the accelerator to say 2000rpm,and take your foot off it would still rev to 2500-3000 and then drop off to the usual 750-800rpm.
Ran a diagnostic on it and nothing came up.
After a day or so it stopped, ran fine, with no warnings.
Today on the way home I noticed the warning flash up again, got home ran the diagnostic again and nothing.
This time however,I pumped the accelerator 3-4 times with no response the 5th time it reved, let it settle for a minute and did the same 3-4 times no revs 5 th time it reved.
Uncover everything, and see the accelerator pedal, attached to a black round box with 5 wires in, these wire are in a cover running, into the centre, underneath the gear stick, and into the engine compartment, from there I've guessed the same round box sits on the? Egr? Valve and that's as far as I've got :( help please anyone

also just checked all connections from accelerator to Egr and they seem fine, think next step is I strip and clean Egr Vavle;)

thanks, had a good read, and tried pretty much every connection from the accelerator to the connector mentioned, checked and cleaned my maf sensor, which to be looks to be fairly new.
How do I test the map sensor?
As I am told that the map and maf can cause the same problems, but not bring up any error codes on a computer.
The reason why I said about the Egr valve, is at one point my oil was slightly high, so thought the valve may have clogged slightly.
