it's happened again, while joining onto the motorway building up my speed on the slip road (about 60mph in 3rd gear) the car bleeps and up pops the engine control faulty message on the dash.
I change into 4th and keep on accelerating until I am on the motorway then change into 5th and cruise around the 75-80mph mark all the way home, some 40 miles or so.
the symptoms...well there doesn't seem to be any, the car still pulls like a train and there is no black smoke or anything else coming out of the exhaust, it doesn't use oil or water.

If I build up the speed gradually and keep the revs down in each gear the problems don't appear it's just when I boot it.
I have not read the codes yet but will do 1st thing tomorrow morning and post on here, I am thinking EGR valve (don't ask me why) maybe I should blank it off and see if it solves the problem.
cheers
Any help or other suggestions welcome

I had a similar fault on mine many years ago. At first I was told it was the MAP sensor, so had that changed. Hopes high, I booted it down the road from the garage; just over 3000rpm came up, near full throttle - BEEEEPPPP! Engine control faulty; limp mode. Back to the garage.

Then I was told that it was the actuator on the turbo. Had it stripped down, cleaned, put back together and readjusted. Boot it down the road from the garage; just over 3000rpm came up, near full throttle - BEEEEPPPP! Engine control faulty; limp mode. Back to the garage.

Then it was the fault of the boost solenoid. Had a new (secondhand) one fitted. I happened to be with the mechanic as he was fitting it. "Hang on" he said "that doesn't feel right", pointing to a two inch long bit of little rubber tube into which were pushed some even thinner (but much more rigid) plastic pipes. He pulled the rubber tube off and showed me where it had perished and a split had formed from one end, less than 1/2 inch long. He went and grabbed a bit of similar tube off a carburettor at the back of his workshop, cut it to length and pushed the tubes back in. So - booted it down the road from the garage; just over 3000rpm came up, near full throttle - yeeeehaaaaargghhhhhh!!! all the way to the red line, pulling like a train. Problem sorted.

Total spent: around £150. Total that needed to be spent to fix the problem: about 50p.

Check all of the tubes and connections that run between the MAP sensor on the back of the head, the boost solenoid and the turbo VGT actuator. Any leaks or bad connections in in it will flag the same fault code and result in engine control fault light and limp mode.

I'm having this exact same thing with nine just above 3000 revs...

odd that mine too bleeps at just over 3000 revs maybe this is my problem too fingers crossed
cheers

The symptoms you have are precisely those that i had on my 115 Fugly. The answer was simple. The EGR valve was not working. Bought new one on EBay fitted it and problem went away.
