hi - i want to buy a multipla because i have 3 huskies & two other people i generally transport about - i would remove the rear seats to create a secure & safe area for the dogs - i presently use a 2012 rav 4 & apart from the safety aspect they are wrecking it.

i live in n ireland & mulipla's are few if any -. there are quite a few on the mainland but i don't want the hassle of traveling.
does anyone know if a 3rd party service is available to inspect the car etc? - i would be buying from a dealer & can arrange my own shipping..

however overall, perhaps this is not a sensible idea?
cheers.

There are a few Multipla owners in Ireland that frequent the forum. Hopefully they'll see this thread and pitch in if they know of any for sale near them. Failing that, doggybobs links will help, though I know this works out very expensive by the time you've paid for someone to drive it back.

I bought a car from Downpatrick last year and the logistics cost me a lot of money. I flew over to Belfast to view it, then had to do the same again to collect it, then drive it to Dublin to get the ferry back to Holyhead. It's a rare car and at the time time was the best one available so had little choice, but would think very carefully about the costs involved before I did it again.

Btw, Fiat made a full height dog barrier specifically for the Multipla. They come up on ebay every once in a while.

Good luck with your search :)

thanks for your replies - i didn't mention in my original post (due to making it too long) that i'd found one from a dealer just 2 mile away - i thought my luck was in.

it's a 2001 1.6 16v elx.- 87K - mot nov

it's kind of rough although generally sound & obviously didn't have the usual dealers tart up.
tried to start but battery flat & quick start required - exhaust leak found.

priced at £1275 but came down to £1K without me asking - that includes new battery & exhaust repair.
was looking for something younger but still a bit tempted.??

Still over priced at £1k.

was looking at one in fife scotland - 2010 52k diesel - £3495.

just got an online quote of £715 for transporting to belfast - unfortunately i'm waiting to go into hospital so presently can't travel beyond my safe zone.

just as an after thought , i've had a petrol multipla and a couple of diesels and compared to the diesel multi's the petrol one seemed to go through fuel at an alarming rate , i swaer to god it must have had a few holes in the tank :D

I imported my '06 MJ Eleganza into southern Ireland from the UK mainland.
Couldn't find a nice diesel here, most are 1.6 petrol.
On top of that, I wanted the much, much nicer black interior. The nose I could have lived with, the blue interior not!

If you find the one you want and are happy with it, after an AA check etc - then some ferry companies will take the car on as freight.
If you can get the garage or owner to drop the car to the port, they may take it on for you and bring it over to the port in NI - where you can collect it.

I got Liverpool to Dublin with P&O for £186 all in not 6 months ago.
Worth calling the ferries to inquire.
