I have a few jobs that need doing....No 4th Gear, parking sensors not working, back door switch and front wheel bearing.

Well it rained yesterday, first time for ages, I went out and 4th gear returned, (it's been 3 months) the reversing sensors started working and the back door lock operates.

It was just thirsty.

I didn't fix the wheel bearing though.

Do you mean take the side plate off and give it a clean?
I get fed up with doing it, I've done it about 4 times now.
I might 'adjust' the plate with a hammer to give it a bit more clearance next time.

Had to do mine twice.
The Multi died before it needed doing again.

. . . I might 'adjust' the plate with a hammer to give it a bit more clearance next time . . .
I had a similar thought, but involving machining a hole in the cover, and welding a cap over it, but I thought maybe the cover acted as a 'stop' for the shaft.

Another option would be to machine the hole, weld on a big nut, then turn down a bolt to blank the hole off (making it the correct length to provide the stop for the shaft).
You'd only need remove the bolt to clean the c**p out, if needed.

If my current one ever has the problem, I'll probably do that.

Hmmm, never thought about the cover being a stop.
I will see how much time I have when I get round to doing it.
I even shift missing 4th when I'm in my other cars now, I've got so used to it.

I perform gearbox oil change every 10k never had a problem with 4th
The new one I've just gone had no fourth
End plate off cleaned and changed oil
Now just fingers crossed
