Right just been under my multipla to have a look mines a 1.9JTD 115 by the way.
As far as I can see you don't need to split the engine and box but there are brackets on the gearbox that the sump is bolted to.
I have taken some pics of my sump to give you an idea.....

my dodgy bodge up job.....

need to remove this exhaust bracket out the way 1st..

these 3 bolts need to be undone they look a pig to do

Also need to remove these 2 bolts these are easy.....

hope this gives you an idea as to what you need to do, I am going to leave mine bodged up until it gives way then bite the bullet and replace my sump
cheers

One thing I'd add, get yourself (any of you that need to do it) a quality set of RIBE bit-sockets, long-reach preferably.

There are many RIBE Screws/Bolts on the Multi, definitely worth having in your 'armoury'. (y)

See here for example.

Hi right got the sump today and there was 2 bolts either side of the crank, you don't have to remove the gearbox but they are awkward to get at because of the flywheel rebate you need the spline type things but about 5 inches long, without them it is a struggle and they have to be quite thin to go up
