I have searched the forum for this before I ask...but can't seem to find a similar problem.

Last summer I noticed a puddle under the car. It wasn't using water and I couldn't find the leak. I put it down to collected rain water that was dripping out.

Yesterday I found the same puddle but it hasn't been raining. The radiator bottle looked empty too!! As I opened the bottle to refill it, it de-pressurised and the bottle re-filled itself! Hmmm I thought.

It's a diesel by the way, I checked to see if any water was in the oil etc. All seems well.

It's fine this morning.

Ideas????

Let it tick over for while with the res cap loosened (NOT removed) & keep an eye on the level in the res. Look out for bubbles etc. While it's running, give some of the rubber water pipes around the engine bay a good squeeze and check if they're getting warm. If not, you may have an air lock or a dodgy thermostat.

Also, take a look underneath and see if you can see where the water is coming from. It could simply be condensate from the air con drain tube, in which case you've got nothing to worry about - it's meant to do that. In fact, if it doesn't do it, your air con isn't fully functional....

Also worth checking the bulk head drain pipe, I get puddles under my car I found that bulk head pipe was blocked but it lets drips out ? Watch out tho when you shove something up it

I no but because it can't escape due to blockage it drips for days mine, I shoved a stick up it and what came out you wouldn't believe
