General Another one bites the dust...

From showroom to scrapyard.

Sadly, our much-loved Loser Cruiser has today left for the junkyard.

Bought new in 2001, when our four children were very much with us. We filled the car and used it to its max.

A truly great car, faultless (except for a naughty EGR valve) over nearly 200,000 miles. An imminent MoT failure due to rear subframe corrosion has left the car uneconomical to repair. I doubt that there are many one owner Multis that have covered this mileage. Such a shame to see it go, the running gear feels as if it is just run in!

What next? New car shopping. Exciting times!

A very sad day, disgusted . I think yours is the longest tenure I've known on here, and by some margin. Very sad.

After owning the car for that long, I'm surprised that you can bring yourself to part with it, no matter what the repair cost. It would be like losing a member of the family.

How about another Multi? Will you be sticking around on the Forum?

I know how they feel… coming up seven years with ours and 100k miles done…. about to get a new clutch and flywheel fitted next Saturday. I can't think of another vehicle that can do what a Multipla can do……Cant say Ive spent as little as the above has…. bet its 4k……. will have a count up she it gets to seven years….

Our Loser-Cruiserlessness didn't last long (about 24 hours!). Found this one locally for pennies.

Swapped a few things over from the old one - including the Cinturatos to replace the 'comedy' tyres that the newer one wore...

The new blue one has had £1,100 spent on it in Dec on front suspension joints and a host of other stuff.

Rear suspension has had some considerable work done on it in the recent past too - spring, shocks, joints. Quite odd that, ours hadn't been touched at nearly 200k miles.

Subframe fine, but I will be wire-brushing and Hammeriting (?) it to hold back the rust.

One local (about a mile away!) owner from new. 90k miles. Cosmetically MUCH better than the old one.

after owning a couple of other cars since i had to get rid of my last multipla i reckon you've made a wise choice to stick with the bug , much more useable than 99% of other so called mpv things that have a boot space the same size as the glove box (n) at least you didn't get a pug 307hdi like i did , god was that a mistake :bang:

Thats great that you have found another one! We are about to spend £600 next week on ours. Cant think what life would be like without it. They are just so versatile. Hope this your new one lasts as long as your last one.
