New to the forum and reading some of the stories of changing a battery on a Multipla I was a bit wary. Mine is a 2009 model with original battery - but it died to-day so I had to change it. First checked if I could reach the nut holding the strap. It's pretty inaccesable, but with a long extension on my socket wrench, I could get to the nut between the battery and the air-cleaner. I'd drenched the nut with WD40 some time previously when I knew the battery was getting to the end. Fitted the socket and eased the pressure on the nut which started to move. Stopped there and went to my local Euro Car Parts and bought an Exide Excell 027 62AH for £59.40. Got back released the terminals on the old battery, relocated the nut again with the socket wrench (coating the inside of the socket with Vaseline) and the nut came off OK. Took out old battery, put in new, relocated the strap and reattached the nut. Replaced terminals (very easy - especially the negative with it's snap-clamp arrangement). Engine fired OK. Set radio code and clock, all done.

yep....and guess what? I had the tailgate permanantly locking performance couple of days ago. Posted my reply on how I fixed it yesterday. Thanks to Spudd and GreemBaa and their clear instructions everything went to plan - got the microswitch out, cleaned it up (the rubber release on the handle above the number plate was clogged and couldn't move) and put back and lo and behold all OK (well so far). Didn't take that long either. Mind you you do have a lot of different screws to re-fit........so you have to remember where they came from....but hey it saved the £88.92 which I was quoted for a new micro-switch which in the end I didn't need.
