Hello Chaps

I had such great help from you in the past, when directed to Optima Motors to help look after my Multipla, that I'm coming here to see if anyone has ideas on this little problem.

I opened the bonnet to refill the screen wash earlier, and now the bonnet won't click 'home' when closing. This has happened before, and I think Nick at Optima adjusted the latch along somehow with a tool, but as it's Sunday, and he won't be open, I wondered if anyone here could help. Thanks.

OK, it's fixed! Hurrah!

I did what you suggested, and sprayed some WD40 on it for good measure. I waggled things around, and noticed that the large spring was half-covered. I experimentally moved this cover to the left, and tried the bonnet again. It closed home! So I don't know what did it, but am very grateful.

Thanks for your speedy reply to my question.

Thanks, Dave. I'll ask Nick to have a look at it when the car's next in. I'm not a hands-on owner, I'm afraid.

All the best.

The catches get gummed up with a mixture of road grime and the grease that's originally put on them. You did the right thing by using some WD40 (and a good waggle) as this helps to flush some of the gunge away. It'd probably be a good idea to put a few drops of engine oil or similar on afterwards, as WD40 isn't the best lubricant in the world.
