Hello to you folks. I’ve been a multi owner since 2000 when I bought a brand new ELX and I still have it after 130K miles! It’s been so good that I want another with less miles on it. Hence this post!
Now I apologise for my first post being a load of questions but I am a bit time limited as they say :-I’ve been looking around on the ‘tinterweb’ for a couple of months to get an idea of age and cost. I’ve seen a few that caught my eye and have been to see three of late (some more to view next week) The best one so far is an 09 Eleganza with 69K on the clock. Quite a good service history and two owners. Immaculate inside, good tyres no dents or scuffs that I could see. Everything worked as it should.
However, the lad at the garage said it had been stood since before Christmas and sure enough the battery was flat, but a pair of jump leads later it started up fine. I let it idle until it got warm whilst I checked that all the electric stuff worked. Then when I blipped the throttle the engine misfired when I took my foot off the throttle then ran really rough for two minutes, it then settled down again. Each time I blipped the throttle it would misfire as the revs dropped. Quite a bit of black smoke from the exhaust at the same time.
The lad at the garage thought this might have been because it had been stood for some time. Also I did notice that when I first started it up the little red oil can light on the dashboard was blinking for say a minute and then went out.
So then all you ‘Multipla’ aficionados. what do you think the cause of this might be?
I’m going back for a test drive once they get it fixed!!!!!!
Also I cannot seem to find an Eleganza with two sunroofs! I’ve got them on mine, when did they stop doing this?
Thanks for your time and I look forward to your replies.
Chris

I've just bought my 4th multipla, and it was a 2008 eleganza 120 with 2 sunroofs, so they do exist, but rare...
One of the biggest problems with the 2008 onwards multis is that they have a DPF unit in the exhaust system, these can clog up eventually so you have to spend over @£500 on a new one...when they clog up they can be hard to start, ie choked, but there is also a give away warning light on the dashboard, so check this....
I also noticed that the 120 seems to have lower front suspension than earlier versions, so it handles a bit better, plus overall, it feels "plusher", I love it! maybe thicker carpets, more sound deadening perhaps.

Welcome to the Fiat Forum :)

The sunroofs became an option when the Multipla got its facelift. Prior to that, the older ('roundnose') Multiplas came with 2 sunroofs as standard in ELX trim. They were quite an expensive option on the squarenose. ELX trim was replaced by Eleganza at the time of the facelift.

As for the running problems - could be a stuck EGR valve. Suggest that they take it off and give it a good clean out?

Is your ELX still a good runner? A one owner roundnose must be almost unique these days, regardless of mileage.

I'm the one owner on my old shape multi, got over 170k on it now, hoping the MOT in May isn't too much of a drama, would hate to have to get rid of it, even though the kids would throw a party!

Had ours six and a half years now with 138.5kmiles. We fix it when it breaks…
what else is out there with the space and great seating? Best of all it's bought and paid for! The only other car I would have bought would be a Honda FRV….
But we didn't have enough money for an EX. I can't see us selling it any time soon. My youngest daughter is 13 and wants to learn to drive non it!!!!
