I noticed that a single (pale red) relay underneath the driver's side glove compartment gets really warm, much too warm to my taste. I can touch it, but not hold it very long, so that'll be 50 degrees C / 120 degrees F. On the picture I enclosed it in a yellow line.

I'm not allowed to embed the photograph, but it's in the gallery as:

Hope this works.

The problem is that my Fiat booklet depicts a different fuse layout for the lower bank of fuses. The top ones are described correctly. The booklet depicts no relay at all. The part enclosed in the red line differs completely from the picture in the Fiat service booklet that came with the car. Any ideas, anyone?

I tried to find out the function of the relay by removing it, but to no avail. The engine keeps running and still starts... wipers, radio, headlights, fog lights, instrument panel, door locks, rear window heating, ventilator... all work as they should!

So what's this relay doing there? And where all this current going to?
