Posts: 1 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | When driving my new (2002) Multipla, I get tension in my right leg because of holding the acceleration pedal foot up, to aviod acceleration of the car. The pedal seems to be too high in normal driving positions and/or it is too easily pressed down, so I accelerate (more than desired /drive faster) when I relax my leg and foot.Anyone who has fixed this problem...or am I the only one with a stressed leg / shin? Is there a kit to mount, that will fix the problem (eg a spring that makes the pedal harder to poress down) or do I have to violate the gas pedal arm to get the pedal to a general lower position? Please Help!!!

I soon found that my lower right leg would start aching chronically on the homeward journey for exactly the same reason as you mention. My previous car had Cruise Control, but that isn't available (so far as I can tell) on the Multipla. My solution has been to make a footrest that is taped down alongside the accelerator, such that with my foot half resting on it, the car will cruise at a steady(ish) 75mph. Not as good as a pukka Cruise Control, but I can do long car journeys now without my Leg aching. The footrest itself is simply a piece of 1 inch square planed timber from my junk box, cut and screwed into an "L" shape, and then inverted and taped to the floor pan with duck tape. It took a couple of goes to "tune" the height of the footrest by gradually shortening the support "leg" of the footrest - initially the cruise speed was way too slow - but now I reckon I have it just right. The car has been MOT'ed twice with it in place, an no-one has told me that it is unsafe. Hope this helps, Cheers.

What a difference to drive now, of course it's trial and error to get the right strength of spring. Mine was about 6 inches long and came out of my tool cupboard - I can't remember what it ame off.
