Hi my injection system failure light has just come on and wont go out (the red one that looks like an engine).
Does anyone know what this is likely to be and if I should expect a large bill?
Presumably this is a job for fiat, I have been a little unimpressed with my local dealer so would like to avoid them if possible.
Is it still ok to drive the car? It seems to be driving fine.
Any pointers would be very much appreciated thanks.

thanks for taking time to read my question. The light came on when I was accelerating to overtake on a motorway. There is or was no loss of power or uneven idle in fact there is no appreciable difference in the performance since the lights been on.
Not sure if I mentioned or if it makes a difference my car is a diesel 110 ELX 2001.

would the throttle sensor cause the light to come on? Presumably that means that it is still safe to drive. Was it exspensive to get yours fixed?

All times, "engine management" light came on.

1st time, under warranty @ dealer. Throttle potentiometer replaced. No cost.

2nd time, specialist in SE London diagnosed, wiggled connectors, gave it a whack. Fixed. No charge as I was in for major service (cambelt).

3rd time (about 1 month ago). It fixed itself.

There are details of which connector under (passenger side) of dashboard to wiggle on the owner's club website I believe.

Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells.

in my brothers punto mk2 owners manual it says that when the light comes on the full injectors need either cleaning, or replacing. not sure if this helps?

Anytime the light comes on it can mean anything. The only way to check and that is not conclusive, is to visit someone with THE SAME and this is important, diagnostic equipment as Fiat. Not all diagnostic equipment is the same and Diesels did not have to comply until 2004 with the standard. I found this out the hardway ten days ago!
