2003 1.9 JTD. New lower suspension arms (you should have seen the bushes), track rod ends, discs and pads all in.

All good so far. But when reversing very slowly full lock either direction I get a whine from the front wheels.

I'm not concerned as I don't spend my day making slow backward circles, but wondered what might be causing it.

May be the pads and disks settling and pads applying slight pressure on full lock?

Could be something that was disturbed during the rebuild.
Check visually on full lock, see if anything's touching the tyres for a start.

Could also be a Disc 'stone guard' plate touching the Disc
Other possibility is a CV joint, but they'd do it going forwards as well.

BD, thanks, yes, going to do a bit more checking this weekend down Sainsbury's carpark where there's space to go round in circles. I can just hear it: "look there's some nutter in one of them stupid cars going round in circles. Better get the tasers".

Caliper slides on offside and guard bent on the other side. 10 out of 10 both you gents.

You know when they work, and I really shouldn't hex the car, they're a lovely beast. The front ride is now very smooth. Those fresh bushes have given me my lumbar spinal region back. I got the whole front lower wishbones, discs and pads for £99 incl p&p

I thought it was quite a good deal – probably not very good quality. Ah well I'm enjoying her for the moment.
I have been thinking of a remap to get up to about 130bhp, well within 1.9JTD clutch capacity as I understand it. Probably shouldn't push my luck.
