Hi I'm new here and not sure if this question has been answered.
Anyway
I have a 1.6,petrol multipla. The engine started to overheat so took it garage (in June) they said I needed a new engine.so they got me a second hand engine and placed it (€650).the first engine they replace it with couldn't hold the revs at standing and cut out while driving so they replaced it in a hurry (was going on holiday) with another.again the revs were low on standing and the dash (where the temp & time is displayed) was constantly flashing on and off.took it back to them after my holiday to get them to sort it.they couldn't work out what prob with dash was.a further 2 wks later my headgasket went.took it back.while they were sorting out this prob they managed to put a hole in my exhaust and broke the injectors while fixing other problems, they fixed these but now the engine still won't hold revs and cutting out (it's been in garage this time for over a month!!) and now they r saying it's the ecu and it's not their problem.
please can anyone tell me if this is because the engine was changed (therefore it's the garages problem) or a totally separate problem?
Totally lost with this garage now as they keep fobbing me off and not sure where I stand if I took legal action.first need to know whether the ecu is connected to the engine problem.
Sorry post so long but thanks in advance for any advice

Maybe get a second opinion from a few other garages, the one you have been using doesn't sound very good!

did they tell you the reason why it needed a new engine because that seems a bit extreme because of an overheating issue it could have been something as straight forward as a blown gasket , was it using any water? and i think you may want to try another garage by the sounds of it
