Hi Guys
Thanks for all your knowledge on here, there's not much we haven't done on our car but we have a few problems that we need help with.

Firstly we need to replace the Bumpstop in the rear springs, can someone give me a clue of how to do it.

The second thing is that I replaced the handbrake cables, all three and now on the MOT it has failed due to an imbalance, the drivers side isn't pulling, can someone give me an idea of what to do to sort it out.

Thanks again.

Laois...surely that was the NCT!

If youve replaced all 3 cables your problem must lie in the hub.
Automatic adjusters on multis although ingenious are notorious for seizing up and falling apart.

Its quite possible that one of your auto adjusters stopped "auto adjusting" a few miles back the road and requires more handbrake travel to get it to engage, in the meantime your other wheel is locked up nicely.
Thats what id look at first.
Rear hubs off..check your adjusters...you can always wind them on a bit yourself and that might help the issue.
Obviously while your in there check for wear on your shoes seized parts etc. but im guessing youve already done that as you have changed the cables.
The pivot points on the rear shoes can use a bit of lubrication usually too.
Marty.

Oh the bump stop...i glued mine back into position with some windscreen glue when i had the back axle stripped for bushings etc.
Its possible to do this (tricky tho) without stripping anything.
If you need to get a spring out they are not that difficult to get out of the rear.

Hi Marty

Thanks for your reply. Yes your right about it being an NCT but even after 9 years I still say MOT.

Not long ago we had the whole rear brake assembly off cause it was seized and wouldn't go on at all. Found the seals were degraded and replaced them and got it all going again.

When we replaced the handbrake recently I forgot to check for the balance, it worked and I was satisfied with that.

I suppose we may get it up again and have a play.

As for the bump stop, I'll have a go.

Unless you regularly load your Multi up near its limit, I wouldn't bother with the bumb-stop.

Doesn't need them for the MOT, but if it's rattling around inside the spring you'll need to remove it.

If the tester has failed the handbrake on balance then I suggest he goes back to mot school !!
Imbalance on the parking brake is only applicable to vehicles with a single line braking system as it is classed as the secondary brake on vehicles of that type
