So whilst fiddling about with the alternator I thought I would finally get the leaking sump sealed again.

So far I've found I've needed 2 different sized ribe bits. Are there any hidden ones to look out for?

Is there a right up anywhere that i've not found maybe? (y)

petrol or diesel?

I've done a petrol one before and it went smoothly. Only slight tricky bit was putting the new sump on due to having wet sealant on it and trying not to smear it off by touching it.
Oh and separating the old one was a little difficult as well. The sealant on mine held so well i thought id left bolts in place. Get a nice sharp screwdriver and work your way round. Don't smack it in too far though.
Mine was a petrol which has a steel sump and i was replacing with a new one. I damaged mine getting it off. Bent really easy. If yours is ally be careful prising it off as it will crack if to much force is applied.

Have fun.

Presumably you've still not got your eLearn working then. (PM me your address and I'll copy my disc and post it to you.)

I've managed to copy and paste eLearn into a Word document, (just the sump bit), which is attached. Hopefully this will help.

As Gavlar says, you'll need a sharp blade to break the seal, a real fiddle, then it will fall on your head!

Make sure you drain the oil first, or you'll be wearing it when the sump tips over. It'll be too heavy and unwieldy with oil in it. While the sump is off, you'll need a drip tray underneath.

Edit: Can't seem to upload the Word file, but I see, to have been able to create a pdf, which has uploaded. (My first .pdf! I'm now all excited.)

I may leave this til I can get the car up on ramps (when the battery isn't dead  it seems space is needed from what you both describe.

Will pm now thanks!!

There is enough space for that I think but not enough space for me to see what I'm doing, think that may be essential too :bang: :D

Now part of the "fun" in maintaining your own motor car is the fumbling around in the dark, working by feel only, upside down, lying in a puddle, with oil dripping down your neck. Then feeling very stiff the next day. Looking forward to it already aren't you.

CD created, just off to the Post Office. Hopefully be there Monday.

Edit: (That's the CD should be with you Monday, the walk to the Post Office should only take 10 minutes.:D)
12:10 On its way.

you're forgetting trying to get the light to shine on what you want it to and not on your arm, making everything behind it total darkness.... (n)
