Help please.
Multipla 2001 1.9JTD, 161,000miles.
The corrugated alloy pipe from the exhaust manifold to the heat exchanger has broken off at both ends. This results in a deafening rasp when I press the accelerator so I need to fix it quickly, the engine control light is also now continuously lit.
I spoke to my local dealership and all they can offer is the complete heat exchanger unit for £450. My local motor factors don't stock the pipe.
So can anyone tell me where I can buy this 6" curved corrugated alloy pipe from?
Cheers

Are you sure it's Alloy (Aluminium)?

Do you have the pipe part, or has it gone awol?
If you have the pipe, you may find someone local to you to repair it.
If the breaks are clean, i.e. the parts fit together neatly with no large bits missing, then it would be a simple enough welding job for someone.

Any pictures?

Unfortunately the pipe has gone awol so must have cracked at both ends. The pipe is alloy/aluminium, 90 degree bend of about 6" length. Any helpon where to buy this would be appreciated.
Cheers

I doubt you're going to find something like that at your local Allparts/EuroCarParts/GSF etc.

It's going to be a Main Dealer or Breaker's job I reckon.

Might be worth ringing/e-mailing a few of those Part Finder Sites, they contact the breakers for you, then send you the details.

Might also be worth visiting a Breaker (if that's an option for you), and checking out a few other Fiat/Alfa models that share the JTD engine, would give you a few more chances of finding one.

Multipla 2001 1.9JTD, ...This results in a deafening rasp when I press the accelerator

Hello, I'm getting the same symptoms (also Multipla 2001 1.9 JTD) - loud rasp when I get up to/above 30mph. Local garage has suggested damaged flexi-joint forward of the CAT section - part 301427 in link/diagram below, OR damage to the Catalyst with Integral FR Pipe section - part 321737... Doesn't appear to be any damage from the Cat section back to the tail pipe. No warning lights.

So I'm thinking of removing the manifold heat shield, if that's what it's called, to check for damage. Is this the right way to go?

Note: I removed and replaced part 301427 - original not new - when I did the clutch, I'm certain the joints are tight. Could the flexi section be damaged?

Any thoughts folks?

Mark X.
