Hi All

I have owned my 2003 1.9JTD for a few years without many issues.

Recently it has developed a problem with the central locking.

It started with the the boot lock randomly unlocking itself automatically.

The next day the central locking and front window stopped working altogether.

I have checked all the fuses under the oddments tray and all appear fine, but is not really obvious which fuse controls the central locking and front windows. Fuse 18 is one possibility – Front Window Riser. Also Fuse 31 could be a possibility – but fuse 31 does not appear to exist in the car (see photo of the fuse board).

Photos of tray and fuse pages from owners guide are attached

I have read this forum post, which has the same symptoms, but refers to fuse 24 – which does not exist.

(sorry couldn't post the full url as am a new member) 207323-electric-windows-central-locking-not-working.html

Can anyone confirm what fuse should control the central locking and front windows?

Or suggestions about how to figure out what else might be the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Dylan

OK, found the fuse.

A textual description couldn't adequately convey the obscurity of the fuse location. See attached for a photo of the location.

It is well away from the main set of fuses(far right side of fuse bay), behind the wiring loom and actually under the dashboard. You will need to use needle nose pliers to remove the cage and fuse.

I don't know what they were thinking when they put those fuses there.
