So this is probably not the most important issue in the world, or possible even with my Multi , but it happened for the first time today.

Whenever I switch the rear wiper off, the music (or radio) stops with a click like static noise and then comes back again a couple of seconds later.

I replaced the aerial mast and cable a few months ago but it has rained since and this is the first time this has happened.

Ideas?

I experienced something similar when I first had mine, it was brand new, if it rained very heavily or there was a lot of surface water the sound would cut to one of the speakers when the rear wiper was turned on/off, usually off.

It spent quite a long time in the Fiat dealer and their main electrical man was scratching his head, although he did manage to get the car to do it on demand by spraying lots of water around the front nearside wheel arch.

He reckons that there is a minor short circuit, probably centred around an earth link, causing it. To be honest I wouldn't let it get to you, you'll have more than enough to deal with keeping on top of the car's suspension!! :)

nuddmann could be close to the truth. There have been instances reported here (and the other Multipla group) of people completely losing their front left speaker when the rear wash/wipe is turned on, sometimes never to return. The curse of Italian electrics? ;)

I have noticed a few unused connectors hanging out of the loom around the wheel arches.
On mine they seem quite corroded. Perhaps cleaning and protecting these might help.

I know it is quite a tedious job, but it might be a good idea to just undo and clean any connectors you think might be remotely connected with the radio or wiper/washers.
I say this because I have had ABS and EBD faults on mine which I cured by cleaning the connector to the ABS block.
When I removed the connector I could see telltale blue/green deposits (copper oxides I presume).
To clean I blew out carefully with an airline and wiped with some paper towel. I then sprayed liberally with WD40 (a proper contact cleaner would have been better I guess). Then I removed the locking bar to allow me to wiggle the connector in and out. Finally I replaced the locking bar and reassembled.
My ABS faults have now been clear for a couple of months

Pfffft! :p
No sound for a few seconds?

Think yourself lucky, my old ('92) Espace at one time would cut the ignition when the front wipers were on
Imagine driving 26 miles into central London in a downpour in that

I don't need to imagine it, I did it . . .

My guess is that you have a poor earth connection somewhere. Start by checking the aeiral again as this was last disturbed. Make sure the mounting at the roof is earthed well. The outer cable of the aerial co-ax is supposed to be an interference shield, but needs to be earthed at both ends. So also check the radio earth connection.

Next, check the earth connection from the rear wiper motor. Where the cables flex when the rear door opens is a failure point, so check this carefully. It may be trying to earth via the door hinges instead. Check the body earths where these cables go.
