Hi, I bought a 06 multijet from a volkswagon dealer last november. The oil light flashes for a minute when I start it and has done since I got it. Dosent bother me as the car was serviced and I know only a main dealer can turn this off. However the engine control light came on recently and car went to limp mode. Local garage told me it was the diesal particulate filter and I should drive it hard to clear it. It seemed to work but the light came back on after a week. Its gone off and on again since. Does anyone know if getting the oil light (service light) reset by a fiat dealer would help

Hi there. The flashing oil light is a warning to tell you that the that your oil degradation index needs resetting, but yes, it should be reset at services, basically.

I was told by Fiat that if I left it, the car would eventually go in to limp mode. I ran mine for about three months once without it causing any problems, then had it reset for free at the Ugly Bug Ball this year using the available Fiat scan software. But we can't remember whether we reset it with the free version or the paid version!

The discussion about it is very recent, here, http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/multiplaowners/ and more discussion on the free software too.

My local Fiat dealer used to reset mine for a nominal fee but I can't honestly say whether having this reset will cure your problem. This is going to be an ongoing issue with nosejobs as they get older, I feel.

Thanks pandabloke, I saw on another post that the dpf won't regenerate if the service light is not reset. Mines been flashing since november! Its due a service soon so I might switch to the fiat garage for next service. Fingers crossed. By the way, fiat forum is super. Another reason to be happy with our multipla.
