Hi there.

I have looked at other replies to this question, but none seems to answer it, so I will ask again. The cable has broken on the middle-front seat, and the back is jammed up, even when I pull the broken cable with a pair of pliers. So, how do I replace the cable please, and also, how do I remove the seat to make it easier? Alternatively, how do I get to the mechanism, so I can put the seat down and leave it for now until I can get another cable fitted?

Thanks for any help.

I have exactly this problem.

On the advice of my local garage, I bought a replacement tilt cable on ebay. My garage now tells me it doesn't know how to replace the cable, and that even the local Fiat dealer says it will require taking all 3 front seats out and removing the upholstery to replace it.

Is this true? Or is there a straightforward way to replace the cable?

Thanks.

Is the Seat Back stuck up or down (or part-way)?

Have you tried wiggling the back while pulling on what's left of the Cable?
With some sprung mechanisms, it helps to reduce the load on the latching mechanism.

Note the comment from mingualez at the end of the thread! As the tilt lever for the middle seat is on the NS, I would think you'll need to remove the NSF passenger seat to gain access. If the NSF seat has a side airbag (look for the little 'airbag' tag sewn into the edge of the seat back, near the door pillar) don't forget to disconnect the battery first and give it 20 minutes before disconnecting the seat harness.

Blimey, I'd forgotten all about posting on that one!
If there's enough Cable showing, you could do that fix at either end, without having to dismantle anything.
