I've been on another drive to Italy in my multipla jtd, Newcastle-Amsterdam and down through Holland, Germany and Austria, the multipla which I've had for over five years went fine and did an average of 48mpg, I took the rear seats out about a year ago and I call it my luxury van, for the trip I also took out both of the front passenger seats to allow maximum space for the motorbikes that I was buying. The cruise control developed a small fault, it won't cancel when the brake is pressed, faulty switch I guess, so I need to press the clutch or cancel it on the stalk. Because I took the front passenger seat out this meant that the brake warning light stayed on all the time but I wasn't bothered. This is the 3rd time that I've done this journey in my Multipla luxury van and hope to do it again some day.

Re: Another trip to Italy

The bikes I bought are unusual, but that's what I like, 1955 Isothermos (isoscooter) 125cc, 195? isomoto, same engine as the scooter 125cc split single, also a not so unusual Morini Corsaro 125cc 196?, I had room for one more small bike to put on the rear rack but when I went to get it, the seller who was a dealer in Brescia had made a mistake and already had sold it and there was no more time to look for another. Google the above bikes to see what they're like. It's the 3rd trip of this kind in my multipla luxury van, other times I've went to Imola autojumble where there's a massive choice.

Another trip to Italy

Nothing wrong with unusual, usually unusual is good, this is the Multipla Forum after all (y)
Love the little Morini, an old Friend and ex-work colleague of mine had a Morini 3 1/2 years ago (probably still has), he was something in the Morini Owners Club too, Secretary of something or other, must try and get in touch with him again...

Sounds like a nice trip
What caught my attention was Cruise control.
How did you set that up on the Multipla?

What holds the front seats in? I presume it's four bolts and slide it out of its runners?

4 x M10 fine bolts into captive nuts that are in the floor. The entire seat comes out, complete with runners, leaving a nice flat bit of floor. Don't forget to undo the orange airbag wiring connector if you've got seat side airbags, and before you do that, disconnect the battery and leave for 20 minutes.

The exception is the centre front seat, which is more complex to remove as it has the ducting for the rear seat ventilation running under it.

The beauty of the Multipla is that the floor is almost completely flat from the rear tailgate opening to the front of the footwells. VERY few cars are like this!

Not sure if Guizzo's still on here Dave, his last activity shows as March last year.
I'm back for a quick visit, I sold the Multipla last week after over 10 years of ownership, a truly amazing vehicle, it failed it's MOT on loads of things and I couldn't be bothered to fix it so I sold it for spares or repair. I've been back to italy again. On my trip to Italy in 2016 I removed the front middle seat this time and put a Moto Morini Kanguro in which I bought in Genoa, I tied the front end to the passenger seat. I had a hard shell roof tent on this time, great to compliment the Multipla.

When I returned home from Italy in 2016 just after a week or so I was reversing into my drive and there was a big bang it went clonkety clonk as I slowly got it fully into the drive, it turned out that the bottom engine mount had rotted and collapsed and the engine had dropped down a couple of inches, imagine if that had happened on my trip at motorway speed. I plan to get a Panda next.
