Had an oil leak on one of our Airbus Engines at work the other night, had to smile when I took a closer look at where it was coming from...

Out of interest, what sort of parts Gavlar?
Hope it's not the brazed-on p-clip tabs on some of the fuel/oil tubes, those things are always breaking...:D

Lol.... the last place I would want a oil pump from a fiat uno is on an Airbus!

To be fair, it turned out it was coming from the pipe flange at the top, you can see it beneath that lower bolt head.
All that technology and it's a £3 O-ring that lets it down.

Actually, knowing Aircraft parts prices, it's probably more like a £20 O-ring

I moan about car part prices, but you wouldn't believe what some things cost.
I worked in one of the Engine shops for a while when I was an Apprentice, we used to try and find the most expensive parts (for their size) in the parts catalogue.
I think I won, with about £12,000 for a 12" diameter ball-race :shakehead:
And that was around 1980...

I tig weld mainly brackets and large rings. I think the rings are main engine components. Don't know too much about the parts i just weld them. :D

Respect!
Welders with an Aerospace 'ticket' are probably the best in the world.

I used to go to our Welders regularly for little 'home jobs', mostly Motorbike stuff (before they were moved off-base)

The stuff they did was amazing, the finish was better than you'd see in a Welding text-book. ;)
