Technical Engine warning light and limp mode

strange this, i left the light issue, thinking to myself its not causing me a real problem.
I haven't used the car since Wednesday.
Yetsreday I went about 2 miles down the road, the oil light flashed on went off and so did the eng contrl light. pulled into a lay-by switched the engine off and restarted it, engine check OK.
I still love my multipla, what I like even more are the comments that people make when they stop and have a real good look at it

Having read this post with forum opinions with MAF's and your first post and this post. You have answered your own question if you look in the manual concerning the DPF. Most users here have a JTD with a cat, few have a multijet with a DPF.
You mentioned the dealer did a forced regen of the DPF, why ? Was the DPF not regenerating ? Have you contacted the previous owner about type of driving he/she did ? Maybe the DPF cannot regen because its clogged. In this post you mention
Blinking oil light, on a MJet this is linked to the DPF as the oil needs changing as contains too much carbon. Clogged DPF will cause weedy power and performace. I would suggest an oil change first, reset the blinking oil light, then drive above
3000 rpm for 30 mins and see if the DPF amber cleaning light comes on on your facia panel.

Mine is a JTD.When it was a year old it went into constant limp mode.- it was never intermittent. Luckily it was under warranty and the local dealer replaced the DPF which cured the problem.
Now The DPF kicks in once every 6 months or so-no little yellow light has ever come on but the engine revs highly on tick over and loads of crap comes out the exhaust - this lasts about 10 mins or until I switch the engine off.
The flashing oil light comes on once a year or so, changing the oil and filter doesn't clear it though, it needs to be reset by a Fiat Garage.

Hi. Some Multipla's are in the change over period with the JTD engine with a DPF. Yours must be one of those. I agree with the Fiat reset, just another uncessary warning, that makes you visit the dealer for a reset. This blinking light cannot be reset with Laptops, KML cables and Autel's.

Yours being replaced under warranty indicates a lot of stop start driving, which is the main cause of failed DPF's. Depending on your type of driving the DPF should self clean in a perodical cycle. Doing a forced regen is a last chance saloon venture, if it will not regen it a costly replacement or do a DPF removal. Since I have has my Multipla remapped, by regen's happen at approx 4000 miles, instead of the 2000-2500 miles that its used to happen at.

thanks for that, I have a little light thing on the dash for the DPF and that hasnt come on as yet

It comes on when the DPF is regnerating, i.e self cleaning itself, the revs rise a little when this happens and last about 15 mins. If you are in traffic when this happens, keep the revs above 2500, so that it works properly.

If the light is still on for more than 15 mins, its fairly clogged, but bear with it till the light goes out.

Just booting down the motorway, does not clean out the DPF, when you look at from the nearside you will see the regen pipe that conmes from the top, that recircs back into the exhaust system.

here's the false economy bit,
I contacted my local fiat dealer for a quote on an oil and filter change £90, so I decided to let my local garage do my oil and filter changed, I have used him for all my cars over the last 20 years,5 minutes down the road as opposed to 30 minutes for the dealer, he charged me £78 and that included a flush as well.
Unfortunately he cant reset the oil light so it has to go to a fiat dealer... cost £48
sometimes I am my own worst enemy, but I believe that everything happens for a reason :)

Disconnecting the battery never works on my 06 Multipla.
In the 7 years I've owned it,the only place I've managed to get the oil light reset is a Fiat garage.

I would love to disconnect the battery, but the way my luck is running I am scared that something else would go wrong.
I am very tempted to take my car back to garage and demand a refund under the sale of goods act as the vehicle is not really fit for purpose.
I am the main carer to my 92 year old mum, so a car is essential, the garage that I bought it from state that they will attempt to fix it but will not supply me with a courtesy car or assist with hiring one while it is being fixed. the problem with this car has been ongoing since the first week of buying it

Is it the service notification light that you're talking about? If so, you can reset that yourself.
No. These multijets are different than the JTD's. Why Fiat changed everything I do not know. Just an oil change when
Its due always means a trip to the dealer to reset the oil change red light!!
Nothing will reset it, but the dealer.

no its the oil light that tells you it is exhausted...
I was booked in to Perry;s of Portsmouth who quoted £48.50 for the job, today after trying to confirm my time, I got so fed up I told them to shove it and went to SGM fiat in Southampton they did the job for £27 maybe my luck is turning.... Doubt it though :)
