Me again ... (Told you I had Issues)

The Speedo on my '52 Multi is shot. Basically, the Speedo doesn't register the speed correctly, one minute I'm doing 70mph, the next I'm doing 0mph whilst overtaking Galaxies. This also leads me to wonder if my MPG/Odometer/Rev Counter and lord knows what else is shot to the proverbial...

I called Fiat and they told me that either
a) It's the gearbox Speed Sensor (Which accoring to PARTCO is a FIAT ONLY part) £90 inc fitting
OR
b) The entire module (unit is shot) as there were a number of issues and faults with a batch of modules and are included in Panda's, Punto's and the Bravo, which means that the entire module needs replacing and will cost £500+VAT+Labour.

Has anyone heard of this as an Issue or problem before OR am I being told a porky or two???

Any input would be great.

Did this ever get resolved?
My speedo has dropped to 0 twice in a few weeks now...so no doubt something is on its way out!
Where is the location of the sensor?

Hi, no still not got this fixed yet, gearbox mount shearing and serious need for new tyres have prevented this happening.
Where is the sensor located? I'm a complete newb so idiots directions would be great thank you.

hi
sorry to activate back this old post. i have same issue. any solution can offer? thanks

I'd change the sender on the gearbox..
There are 2 different types though..
can eleborate which type. need to get one. do dablo use the same unit. cant find any on ebay except dablo.

mine, the meter cannot go beyond 80, even that from 0kmh to 60kmh it just sudden jump.

Depends on your car..sorry can help much more than that..
When I swapped my gearbox last year I had to keep the sender that came with the box as it was totally different from the one I had...
I have a spare if you find out the part number.
Easy to remove with a small adjustable spanner but you have to crawl under the car!
