take the bump stops out and throw them away, my multi has passed its mot for the last 3 years and nothing was ever mentioned.

My 2008 JTD also has dropped a bump stop. The offside mounting cup has all but disappeared through corrosion. Can't believe it, thought Fiat had overcome their old rust problem. Would be a simple repair if it was possible to buy a new mount but it seems not. Replacement of the whole subframe seems the only way out. Anyone had this done?

Just realised, my Multipla still has a year left on it's perforation warranty. I wonder if they'll wear it?

Bump stops . . .

Take the bump stops out and throw them away, my multi has passed its mot for the last 3 years and nothing was ever mentioned.

What he said ^^^

My original was the same, I just cut the mounting 'tower' off at the end where the Rubber is fitted.
Went through two or three MOTs after that.
They're not required for an MOT, but if they are fitted, then they have to be secure.

My current Multi has one on the way out, the mounting is so rusted that it's just hanging on. I pushed it back into shape before the last MOT and it passed OK.

Unless you load your Multi up to the max, you're unlikely ever to actually need them.

Took Multipla to Fiat Dealer today. Most unexpectedly it appears that the perforation warranty doesn't extend to the subframe! Well now there's a thing! They quoted £1400 for new subframe and fitting. Will have to hunt around for a local welder I suppose! I'm sure someone can make up a mount and fix it for me!

Rear bump stops.

I think that's your best option.
It doesn't need to be exactly like the original design, a thick-ish plate to mount the rubber on, and four pieces of flat bar attached to the base of the 'tower' should do it.
Actually, you could easily do it without welding, just bolt it all up.

. . . so I might be better sourcing a whole rear axle 'unit' (radius arms, springs, shockers the lot) off a breaker? . . .
No point really.
The Bearing Kits for the arms are cheap enough, and that's all that wears out, so no need to replace the Arms themselves.

Mine done the same thing, dropped the bump stop out so a good load of sikaflex on the top and pushed it back up in and it's held since. My subframe has rotted where the rear shocks mount in at the too and I got it welded but it looks like nothing but seems to do the job. Whether it passes it's next mot here in Northern Ireland is another issue lol
