hi all just a quick note does any one no of a engine swop on a multipla 1.6 16v for a 20v turbo engine is it possible as my missus is adament we keep a fiat multipla and as i like quicker cars this is flat as a pancake i no its based on a bravo so my be the hgt might fit but id prefer to oped for the 20v turbo as its more powerfull so if your reading this and heard off any such op advised will be gladly taken on board hope this can be done as this will be it she's even named it kermit

Barking mad I say, but it takes all sorts I guess.

Pretty certain I've read that the 20VT was test fitted by Fiat (Abarth?) but the project wasn't progressed any further.

However, the JTDm (16V) engine does fit and this puts out 140bhp stock, chipped by reddot racing would give a comfortable 160bhp and 345nm.
Multipla's are hard on suspension components, so increasing the bhp by 60% is about as far as you can go before you start needing to uprate brakes/suspension, etc.
Also the gearbox is a major limiting factor, you can change the ratio on 5th gear easily by putting Punto 5th gears in, this gives a better top end and more relaxed cruising but 1st-4th will be way under-geared, not to mention the clutch is on the limit at 160bhp.
Plenty of folk are running 160bhp on chipped JTD engines but the 16v unit is more responsive.

its a defo the cars staying so i would like to start enhancing kermit soon i've found some springs -30mm
i no they have a problem with alloys not sure wot just yet something about wobble bolts & spacers ????
and i need to source a arbarth kit
and s/s exhaust
and last but by no means least the brakes not a clue if any or wot hubs i could use again ????
then a black gloss roof with ford rs lime green paint
and then when iam fluant in polish i will give him the new 20v turbo engine
but as yet its ok with the donkey its got
i now no wot you mean about punto 5th gear as it does scream abit over 70mph
just cant wait for the new engine can you imagine the look on some one face when the get beaten by a unforseen frog at 250ish bhp :worship:
