:bang::bang::bang:I have an annoying rattle from the timing belt end of the engine on my wife's 2002 Multipla 1.9 JTD 115. Belt and pulleys were replaced 3500 miles ago. The rattle only occurs at low revs. Anyone come across this one before. I've done roll bar bushes, clutch, rear suspension bushes, wheel bearings and all the other things that need attention on a Multi, but this one's got me stumped.

It may not be the same problem, but mine rattled as you described and it turned out that the alternator pulley wheel was self destructing and it destroyed the alternator in the process. It was the same model as yours and had done about 70k.It was very hard to locate the fault until it fell apart.

It may sound like is coming from timing belt but is problably aux belt that is rattling...3500 miles for a timing belt is nothing so i would check crank pulley, aux belt tensioner, idler, alternator pulley and the belt itself as common trouble parts

99% Serpentine belt pulley / tensioner. And if it isn't it's the first thing to eliminate anyway.

Re:Multipla jtd has anoying squeel from belts end.

Also a used to not like Fiats now own one. A pleasure to drive.
Exept for cam belt, tensioner and idler, fan belt &tensioner that has been replaced, what can it be? The only ones left are alternator and power steering pump.

How do I get the alternator drive pully off the shaft to replace the bearings. I is a pully that only grabs in one direction. Does it screw off the shaft or pull off.
