Hello Multipliers. My multipla (2001) has very poor air conditioning and needs a re gas. Does anyone know where the valve is to attach the refill? I have seen the refills to buy for about £40 so thought I may have a go myself. Has anyone done it before and is it worth the hassle or should I get it done at a garage?

Personal opinion. Where did the old fluid go?

Probably leaked out through a hole somewhere or via seals that have dried out / gone hard. So squirting in a £40 can of refrigerant might work... more likely you'll lose that as well.

There are, I think, regulations on DIY re-gassing to do with climate change, professionals have to abide by them, not sure about DIY though...

Pay for a check / service / re-gas & have a proper cool car (y)

the filling point (low pressure fitting) is between the exhaust manifold and radiator on in front of the engine. (on my JTD anyway) it's the fitting with the larger diameter pipes going in to it. the other fitting next to it is the high pressure fitting...don't touch.
refrigerant gas from A/C do slowly leak over time in all cars and should be re gassed every couple of years.
if you are lucky ,you wont have any major leaks and just a top up of gas will be enough.
doing it your self (not hard) or getting it done is up to you (y)

Kwick fit only charged me £45 to drain and recharge my air con.. you will need to buy a pressure gauge to go with the can of refrigerant .. all adds up,, plus you dont get a print out of the state of your air con
