hi all, wonder if anyone can help. i purchase multipla 105sx 1.9td. love the car, beat the stuffing out of p reg gallaxy. Any way there is one thing that the exterior or out side temperature reading is always incorrect.:bang:

so i have looked through the forum and found some details on the sensor which is located in driver side wing mirror. done the usual thing of heating it and still no reading , usally reads - 14c sometimes 2c etc or the dash reads error 225. does error 255 relate to the o/s temperature?


found the 2 purple wires in the wiring harness which feeds the wing mirror and sensor cleaned the connector still no improvement. again read the forum some says it's the thermister / sensor.

i have found out that it is of NTC which means it reads low ohms when the temp is high and verse versa.

Does any one know what the spec of the thermister is ie the range / type ????:worship:

was going to go to farrnel and rs electronics, so far been to maplin electronics but no reply as yet?

exterior temp sensor AND ERROR 255 repaired!!!!!

Right fixed the outside temperature sensor a treat..... cost 0.98p for sensor, and £1.00 pp.
i had a digital thermometer the type with a silver probe about an inch long on the end of the black wire (was bought for me fish tank but needs must). i simply cut the wire close to the digital screen and joined the 2 wires to the purple wires feeding the original sensor in the wing mirror. hey presto it works. i had another thermometer to check the temperatures were reading the same and they were. (cars thermometer verse a stand alone)

i fed the new probe in through the wing mirror, and drilled a hole in the caseing. the wires are simply crimped where the original connector block is.

this seems to have removed the error code 255 which flashes up on the lcd screen. :slayer: (w reg 1.9td sx multipla with speedo and fuel gauges only)
