Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the bleeper that sounds when you lock and unlock a multipla?
It doesn't worry me too much, but when I go to work at 05.30 or come in at 4am after nights, it does sound a bit loud.

not aware of anything the consumer can do to change it.

if you take it to a fiat main dealer they can go into the alarm ecu and change the country code so that it doesnt bleep. might take a bit of trial and error to get the right one and expect to be charged for plugging the code reader on and them going on the database to get the alarm ecu security passcode.

Thanks for that. Looks straight forward enough, but as you said, what does each country code mean? Is someone out there brave enough to give all the codes a try and see what they do? There must be a list somewhere out there in internet land.

havent read the link but if it helps i used to set them to belgium or eec and then it wouldnt beep on arming.

Hi there,

Just after following the instructions in widemouthfrog's link and tried firstly belgium then eec both with no noticeable change (i.e. still beeping) so changed it back to UK (in case some other parameters had been changed) and now I have no beeps and flashing indicators on arming/disarming alarm :D

Happy days as the noise from this done my head right in! No doubt the mrs will complain when she goes to work in the morning as she rather liked it. Well good luck changing it back dear, hahahaha *destroys instructions* :D

Cheers,

Madass.

If you're feeling brave, you could try to follow the advice in this thread:

https://www.fiatforum.com/multipla/109038-multipla-bleep-too-loud.html

I've never tried it (the instructions look pretty confusing!) but the alarm codes 'by country' will each give a different sound pattern.

As to what sound each code makes is anyones guess!

Just performed these steps on our multipla and its worked a treat no more beeping.
Used No 4 for switzerland and the over loud beeping has ceased.

I've got keys for my alarm but must be the olny multipla that don't have a alarm in the car as by servicr histry when the car had a new ecu and map and the rest of 2000 pound spent on it aparantly it was never wired back up so wouldn't no where to start as u got this thrad any ideas

Hi,
As mentioned all I did was set it to belgium (6 beeps) then tried eec (8 beeps) and lastly set it to UK (5 beeps), and apart from the beeps when arming/disarming all is as before, alarm works as normal etc.

One thing I did notice is that after setting the country code there is a delay of maybe 10 seconds or so at which point a single long beep is emitted which I presume is the system letting you know that the procedure was succesfull and/or is finished with the manual fault diagnosis.

Done on a 2003 115JTD ELX btw.

Cheers.

Hi,
Perhaps this is of use?
alarm.jpg

Taken from nick.hostwith.me.uk/test/multipla.pdf

9 flashes appears to indicate battery disconnected and/or alarm power disconnected.

HTH

Cheers.

Just done the same to my Multi - it's sounding the alarm when I arm it !
Did you find a solution?

sorry no still keeps doing it
i can set it to all the different codes but it will still go off when set
power is fine good battery i don't understand?

Sorry I can't help here.
The main objective for me was to get rid of the beeps when arming.
Used country code 4 on ours and after 10 seconds get a short blast from the alarm. No more beeps when arming any more = job done.

What I haven't tried to establish is whether or not the alarm is still working.
I will have a look when she gets home.
Only thing I could recommend is trying the procedure again.

I agree, i did same, set for switzerland, and all worked a treat. Silence :)

Hi guys, sorry I am digging the thread out, but has anyone had any luck with the alarm going off?

Have tried the country codes - some did not give the approving long beep at the end, but with all and even going back to UK - after locking car with the remote and arming the system red LED starts flashing and in a few seconds the alarm goes off. Disarming the alarm and the LED gives 9 flashes - possible back-up battery?

Now the question is - in the alarm ECU is there a back-up battery that can be replaced?

I am close to taking the car to FIAT garage but will expect a bitter bill....

Thanks!

edit: Or at least is there a way to restore the Alarm to it's original state - apart from the beeps it was working fine - locking/unlocking and alarm (not that anyone is gonna steal it :):))

Have you checked the condition of the main battery? I think the alarm does have its own battery as well, but not heard of anyone ever replacing it. A failing main battery can give rise to all sorts of weird faults.

And don't worry - if anyone does steal it, they'd soon bring it back.....:D

There is a battery pack in the siren...
I couldn't silence my beeps no matter what I done. Disconnecting the battery did nothing and I'm sure that the siren should sound if you disconnect the main battery.

I too agree there could be a separate battery in the alarm, but have never heard it needing changing (which would be unusual as batteries have a limited life span). If you find anything regarding this, please let us know as it'd be good info to store.

I do know that a poor main car battery can lead to all sorts of odd symptoms as I've experienced them before, so personally I'd be very tempted to spend £50 and put a brand new car battery in before anything else.

Good luck and please share what you find out :)
