Hi all, just bought my first Multipla and must say I'm impressed with the practicality of the car. All the childseats etc. in and loads of spare space. Very happy with the car.

Couple of questions though...

1. What are those little mirrors for below the main mirrors? They can't be blind spot mirrors because they point down! I thought they might be so you can see your rear wheels when parking etc. but don't seem to do that either. Any thoughts?

2. I've noticed a noise from the rear (left side I think) when I go over bumpy roads. I thought it was the jack but I tightened it all up and made sure it doesn't move and it made no difference. It sounds like something metal is loose. Going to try and see if it's the spare wheel later but wondered if this was a common problem?

Thanks all

Great forum

Those mirrors, as I understand it, are supposed to be for watching the kerb (or bollards, walls, ditches, kids etc) when you're parking, becasue of the extra width of the Multipla.
As they're not adjustable, you may have to adjust the seat (or just bend/crane your neck a bit) to get the view needed.

As for the knocking, check your exhaust, particularly the silencer box(es).
You may have a broken/loose hanger rubber.
Grab the tail-pipe and rattle it around, you'll hear if the system's knocking on anything.

Make sure it isnt the shock absorber knocking. On the Pandas and 500s there seems to be a few failing after very few miles.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure now that it's the jack that's making the noise. I took it out today before a drive and no more sounds. I've now wrapped it in a towel and really jammed it in there but it still won't shut up :) There must be something internal to the jack that's making the noise.. oh well...

hi andyotoole
We have the 06 one,
the spare is a fraction loose on it and rattles -- weather not been good to check lately though--------
we are pleased so far :)

Found out what the noise was guys. Can you believe it was the little box with the locking wheel nuts in it!! They sit on a little plastic tray and because there is nowhere to put them, i've got them in a rear door pocket along with the blue folder. That's what was making the noise! I've now 'lined' the tray with toilet paper and voila, no more noise! Thanks all for the suggestions and who'd have thought it would have been so minor. :)

On another note... blimey, that CD player skips a lot doesn't it?? Is there a way to fix that or is it a case of buying a different unit with some kind of memory/buffer.

Cheers

Andy,

I've got an 07 plate and the original CD skipped horribly so I had it changed under warranty. Guess what? That skipped horribly too, the units are very poor and, I assume, have virtually no anti skip buffer.

I bought an aftermarket unit but of course lost all the steering wheel controls. There do not appear to be aftermarket replacements that will allow you to keep the multipla steering controls (others may know more).

I suggest that you ask for a replacement and, when that does not work I believe that you are within your consumer rights to require the dealer to fit a unit that actually works as the sale of goods act applies i.e. they sold you a car with a cd player, if it is not up to the job they must replace it.

I just gave up after the second unit was equally as awful as the first....also the CD player only warranted for 12 months so I suggest you move quickly to get it changed.

On the bright side we've had ours for 2.5 years and 38,000 miles and (apart from CD player) its been a good car:)
