Hi All, i am a newbie here so be gentle, if this has already been covered then i am sorry, i had a look but couldn't find anything on this subject.

I have a JTD 115, its a great car, but i have recently developed a problem with the front electric windows and the central locking.

Basically the windows wont come down (the back ones work) I have checked the fuse under the oddments tray and they're fine, nothing blown there, does anyone have any ideas what else it could be?

Also the central locking isn't working, either by pressing the button on the key (all this does is activate the alarm) or when you put the key in a the door and turn it.

I would be most grateful if anyone has any ideas regarding this, I have recently purchased the CD on how to repair a Multipla, i just need to know where to start!

Thanks in advance!

Pat

If it's a factory fit Alarm it may be the unit itself that has failed. According to Fiat it's behind the front bumper.
I suspect the Front Bumper will have to be removed to get at it.

the alarm itself is fine, that works a treats, its the door locking and electric windows that are the big problem, also there are some other intermittent electrical devices not working, like the sunroof (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't)

anyone with any ideas?

Battery earth corroded or terminals not tight? Had this sort of stuff happen on a Strada once. Just a thought.

Check the actual fuse sockets as well as the fuses.
Whilst I was looking for the cause of my heater fan fault, I found that one of the fuses in the main tray was loose in it's sockets (they're basically female spade terminals).
I suspect one of them is either worn, or not locked into it's holder properly.
It would be OK if you held it to one side, but as soon as it was let go, the dash lights and display went out.
I ended up having to put a very slight twist on the fuse blades, to make them contact the terminals and stay tight.

Other than that, it's going to be a case of tracing the power supply with the wiring diagram, and checking each section in turn for power/continuity with a multimeter.

If they both (windows and CL) failed at the same time, I'd start with their power supply circuit, before checking switches or the switch wiring.

Did anybody manage to fix this problem I have it with my 02 jtd 115.
Problem started when my key fob was intermittent and then finally stopped working due to the microswitch.well I've got the key fixed but its only turning the alarm off and on.please can anybody help this is driving me nuts

Checking the fuses, fuse 24 (internal) is the ABI control unit (power windows/front door lock), I haven't a clue what ABI is but I'd suggest that it's worth a punt for your problem.

Thanks for your reply,I have looked in my manual and there is no mention of a fuse no 24 does anybody know where this fuse is located as it may be the answer to my problem

From the manual (facelift) - fuse 24 on the bottom row of the diagram. I have a pre-facelift and I think the fuse box is the same, but I'm not with the car to check.

I have The same problem.....Central Locking and front windows not working. 1.6 ELX model. The rear windows and both sunroofs are working but my fuse layout is completly different to the manual. Any ideas anyone ?

If you haven't got a handbook for the car, go to the Multipla home page and download a handbook.
This should help locate the fuse protecting the windows and c/l.

I have the handbook but as the other guy said fuse 24 just dosent exist under the fuse tray.ive looked in the handbook and there's no mention of a fuse 24 or anything described as front windows/central locking.does anybody else have a clue how I could sort this problem out.
Many thanks for all the above replys

I have exactly the same problem on my 52 plate JTD, electric front windows and central locking U/S -fuse 24 and 26 (for rear windows but they do work) do not exist on page 157 of my owners book it shows fuses 21,22,23,then goes to fuses 25 and 27,and whoever decided to put the fusebox and fuses there needs -well we won't go there :confused:
Anyone?

My front windows are now working as is the central locking :D
Found another fuse drawing online, to the right and in front of the black Magnetti Marelli code immobiliser box, there are 2 fuses, took them both out they are under the cage holders, and then just plugged them both back in.The front windows and central locking are now working, so must have been a bad connection!
P.S. I Can e-mail the pdf with fuse/relay locations i found online if any one needs it!(y):)
