:confused:I'm going to be doing my front suspension arms soon and was hoping for opinions on aftermarket ones as £105 each from shop4 is pretty steep.

Thats a lot more than they usually charge , if you phone them they will usually give a better deal.

:)
Thanks JTDman. 2 for the price of one - cant be bad. Have used euro before and always supplied good stuff so looks like a no brainer.

Do you know if anybody has done a guide to fitting them - if not i'll have a go at posting a guide after i've done the job

Will put a little guide together when i do them specifically for the multi and post it on here:idea:

I bought some from here a month or so ago. I used the "how 2" posted by JTDMan and it was invaluable. The only addition I would make to it would be to loosen the bolts holding the ARB to the subframe to make it easier to remove and replace the wishbone; it's a bit of a squeeze under the ARB! Be careful though; lots of Plusgas or WD40 before you undo the ARB bolts, I sheared 2 off!

Good Luck!!

Thanks Guys

Haven't bought bits yet-not doing the job for a few weeks due to work commitments but those look just the job.
Be doing the ARB rubbers and drop links at the same time i expect - lots of knocking and both the wheels have some movement due to worn bushes on the wishbone. Car has just done 90k miles so worth doing the lot at the same time i think.
Then it'll be onwards to the brake shoes - poor handbrake and an advisory on the 75k service before i bought it

Hi reeseyboy - have you subsequently had any reason to doubt the quality of the parts from buypartsby? (I mean are you bushes shagged again yet..?) I like the idea of saving a lot of money but am obviously skeptical of arms that cost ~ 10% what fiat quotes.. Or even 25% what Euro car parts quote..)

Also - anyone got a better link to the "how 2", as this link no longer works for me.

As an aside, my dealer quoted £636 for new arms and drop links..

Neil, parts have been fine. No problems whatsoever. The rest of the car on the other hand........ It's going in the next week or so, got a Peugeot 807 coming. Lets see if that can't empty my wallet any faster than the FIAT!

as of in a ulyssee?

frying pan into the fire! ;)

is it possible to just replace the bush only? saw on ebay the dealer offer
2 set ( 3 each side incl ball joint) abt GBP54 excl postage.

i've use polybush on the arm, but now i have squeaking sound each time i hit the bump. according to the workshop, the polybush have twisted and somehow move.

ebays sell much cheaper wishbones, however....

I can't believe that anywhere can supply the arms for less than BuyPartsBy > £16.19+VAT each. I've bought some and I'll check them out before fitting them..

Finger's crossed..

OK - I was a bit dubious about the ordering the parts from BuyPartsBy, as they were about 15% the price from Fiat, which just seemed too cheap. But here they are and they don't seem too bad:

The casting appears to be a bit rougher than the originals:

And the drop links look fine:

In fact the arms look pretty much like the ones that came off, but of course I don't know if they were original..

Anyhow, apparently they went on alright (I didn't fit them) so I'll just see how they last. And get the tracking done..

Neil.

I have just done this job on my Multi (well ony one side so far, ran out of time!).

The parts I bought also came from bypartsby, the arms seem absolutely fine, and the bushes look pretty good quality, I can't believe the price, it seems far too cheap - could be a mistake on their pricing???? The arms were delivered within 24 hours as well.

The only thing I would say is that they are cheap for the arms, but other parts in general seem about the same as everywhere else so I always shop around.

Have bought quite a few parts from Euro car parts as they do free delivery and are also pretty good on price.

The arms themselves are very easy fit - much more straight forward than a Mondeo!!.

I undid the arb inners anyway as the bushes needed replacing, but yes it is easier to get the arb out of the way slightly.

The other tip I would suggest, is to do up completely the inner mountings on the wishbone to subframe before locating the outer balljoint into the strut, that way you can easily line up all the bolt holes.

I then used spring compressors to take some tension out of the strut and could easily then locate the ball joint.

Hope that helps, Tim.
