Tyre / Wheel Size

Hi, I hope this is not a stupid question;

but would a 185/65 R15 (15 inch wheel) and 205/55 R16 (16 inch wheel) be the same size wheel overall. i.e. not sending the speedo out?

Many thanks,

It's a while since I did maths but if I've worked it out right, the 16 inch wheel one works out 10.5mm bigger in total diameter, so hardly any difference in that respect

Re: Tyre / Wheel Size

Hi,

The speedometer would be 1.7% too slow, which means when the speedo is at 60 you are really going 61 MPH.

This is within "limits"

the 205/50 16" is 1.5% too fast.

I always use a tyre size calculator, since this is my first post I can't submit a link.
google: tyre size calculator
