Technical Oil Light Flashing

Yes, indeed, again slightly what I was trying to get at again. It doesn't recognize when the oil has been changed and thus can't obviously physically or chemically measure the state of the oil. It's a manual reset. That's what cheeses me off a bit! Lol.

It only takes in to account miles covered and distance of journeys etc.I think(n)

also start ups, engine temperature, regenerations, dpf temperature etc...takes loads of factors into account which is why the system is currently the best around. I'll be honest and say that I have had one DPF fault not down to the customer (knowingly or not) and that was a temperature sensor on the DPF itself going out of limits.

We had our dpf light on at only 2000 miles. They said they purged the system.Whatever that means but it sorted the little warning light out:confused:

hi guys,
well I have just rest my flashing oil light............ I used the 1.6 program .....had to use the '02 jtd' choice for my 06 nose job. but all seems well now.
the new version wants you to pay to do this but the 1.6 does it free ;) ;)
regards
don

Hi I have also used 1.6 and 2.2 to switch off the oil light (after I changed the oil obviously!)

I cant work out why my particle filter obstruction is at 108% however but the filter status is 'normal clogging'. I would expect it to be trying to regen over 100%?

wow having just read all this on the oil light flashing
I've had this problem since i bought the car 3 yrs ago
i thought the oil pressure switch had gone and was all set to get
it changed but its in a pain in the ass place
on the back of the engine.
also ive had dpf come on a few times so i kicked its ass
an got the crap blown out ov it.
so if its on the ecu this is a computer we looking at
an computers are stupid once you find the access i'm gona turn it off
no way is fiat gona hold the cards.

Unfortuanately I think I'm correct in saying that only the paid version of the available software will reset the index. I could be wrong aand I am quite happy to be corrected.

When I was at the uglybug ball a couple of years ago, my index was reset by one of the attendees with the paid version of the software. Access to the ecu is via the port under the right hand side of the dasboard (if I remember right....).

However, you need a windows laptop, the appropriate software and and uprated connection cable. I think (?) the software and the cable were available via contact with this forum, but certainly the Yahoo group. The Yahoo group had a very active member who gave excellent advice on the software and sold the cables at cost price.

However I am no longer a member of the yahoo group and can't provide any further info. Sorry.

Just wanted to add to this thread.
Yes you need the paid version of MultiECUscan and the correct cables.
I got this from the Google Multipla Site
https://sites.google.com/site/fiatmultipla/Home/repairs
Under "Diagnostics" - How to Run Diesel Particulate Filter Regen and Reset

FiatECUScan diagnostic software can manually start a regeneration, and it can reset
the DPF counter by resetting the oil degredation light.
This is possible in the free unregistered version, but make sure you are running the
latest version – currently 3.4.2. Edit---this is incorrect.
If you cannot find the DPF menu, this is how. You don't even need to connect the
laptop to your car to explore the menu.
1. Select Fiat Multipla '02 1.9 JTD. Under 'System' select Engine, and under 'ECU'
select Bosch EDC16C39 CF4. If you select EDC15C7 you won't find it.
2. Press CTRL-F10. This connects in demo mode, so no cable or car needed. When it
says ‘Invalid ISO Code’ press Y (for the purposes of the demo – normally you would
select a different ECU if it says invalid ISO).
3. Press F4 Parameters. Scroll right to the bottom to see all the DPF and oil change
parameters.
4. Press F7 Adjustments, then click on ‘Particle Filter Regeneration’ for full
instructions on how to do it.
5. Under F7 Adjustments, click on 'Oil Change' to reset the flashing oil degredation
light.

Make sure the ignition is on but that the engine is not running.

Did it this evening so happy there is no more flashing oil light.
Not if only I could get the bloody thing to start more easily!!

Anyone in the Cork / Limerick area of Eire who needs this resting, give me a shout.

Hi all. I own a 56 plate diesel and have just had a new EGR Valve fitted after poor running of the car. The car is running fine now but as i pulled away from the dealers after they had the car for a week to find the fault, the oil light started flashing. I went back to the service manager and he told me it was because the car had not been running, which i found unusual to say the least. I drove away and the light flashed again then went off after about a minute. The same symptoms occur each time the car starts up yet the car appears to be running fine. Could this problem just mean the garage need to reset something or, god forbid, the car has developed yet another problem. Please help.
Hi
My 2010 Multipla did the same when it was due a service.
Once the service was done I reset the service interval on the clocks. I found the procedure for it here on the forum, however, that did not stop the flashing oil light. This has to be reset manually. It I’d the same reset as a Fiat Doblo. I cannot take credit for this as I found it on the Service Guide site on you tube. This is how to do it:
1. Turn on ignition.
2. Press down the accelerator pedal down fully. Hold it down.
3. Press the brake pedal 7 times whilst continually holding the accelerator pedal down.
4. Hold the accelerator pedal for a further 60 seconds.
5. Turn off ignition and wait at least 30 seconds before starting.

I hope this helps.
