Technical Rear Wiper ????

Cheers for that chaps,

It seems silly to be continious as the wiper control pictures a broken white line. Anyway thanks for the help might consider the Maplins idea.

My rear wiper arm hasn't worked for about two years, the motor doesn't work. It so expensive to replace but theres a long waiting time to get one from Fiat. My front wiper motor went kaput last year and got one from a scrappy...so far so good....touch wood it works. Had to replace the wipers though cos the wrong size was on them and they needing replaced anyway, they were both 22 inch when one should be a 24.

You were all saying that when you replace the blade on the back you need a whole new arm. The Punto is the same, what a pain and a rediculous expense when it needed done last year.

Call me "tighter than a ducks arse", I got a complete blade from "The Range Store" for £1.99. and just changed the rubber over.

Ha! I managed even cheaper than that, I just cut the damaged end off a front refill that I'd replaced and used the remaining bit on the rear:D

Bubblegum19, it might be worth doing a bit of investigating on your rear wiper motor. They seem to have a bit of a habit of seizing on the shaft, locking the whole mechanism solid. dismantling, getting penetrating oil in and generally trying to free it up by hand can be very effective. This happened to my toad 3 years ago and it's worked perfectly since

Hi,
Based on "pig"s cheery comment about the Maplins delay relay, I bought one.
But could some one detail how this can be wired into a Multipla?

I have put the kit together ok but I'm having trouble relating the installation instructions to the car.
I was hoping to copy "pig"'s option of just wiring it along side the motor in the tailgate.

The instructions refer to a two speed motor option. ( Instructions https : // esr.co.uk / manuals / k2599.pdf I've split the URL up with spaces as I can't use one yet)
But my Mutlipla does not accommodate such flippery and is only one speed.

As such it only has 3 wires in and not the 5 mentioned. From looking at the motor it has 2 green and one black.
The instructions also imply that there should be a separate feed for the wiper return when you switch it off.
Also for testing the unit you connect it to a battery to the prescribed 12V terminals + and - , but it's not clear on the instructions if the unit still needs its own feed when installed.

So my guess based on the details in the instructions is as follows.
The "black" wire is the -ve ground "31"
The other 2 green ones relate to "53A" and "53" (which is which to be tested with a bulb).
So that would relate to terminals A and C.

But if that is the case what is needed for terminals D and E related to the wiper going back?
And as mentioned does the unit need to be fed by "53A" for + and "31" for -ve on it's own feed.

So any comments ( and photos) appreciated.
