Ok, FYI access to the fuel sender unit is under the rear seats directly between the middle and right hand seat, if you intend removing the unit i would recommend that you buy a new seal first as its probably best to change this.
To access the panel you need to remove all 3 rear seats, unscrew the 4 load hooks that are bolted to the chassis, remove the plastic trim that is under the rear 2 doors (3 screws on each), remove all 6 plastic rear seat rail covers (they just unclip), unbolt ouside seat rail from left and right seat and one seat rail from centre rear seats and remove said rails, remove the 2 round plastic thingys
that hold down the carpet (they are about the size of a 2p piece) , remove plastic trim from under boot of car that is holding down carpet.
Roll back the carpet (not the insulation), being carefull not to tear it! You will then see that the insulation under the seats has a join in it, lift said insulation from under centre and right passenger seat to reveal round panel held in place by 4 screws. Remove panel and reveal fuel pump/sender unit.
The sender unit has one inlet pipe, one outlet pipe and one multi plug.
To remove sender unit, disconnect both pipes and multi plug and unscrew outer ring ( this is a pain in the butt to do, :bang: there is probably a tool for this but i used a small cold chisel and hammer to sharply tap the ring and unscrew it). once the ring is unscrewed the unit just lifts out (be carefull not to spill fuel everywhere as the unit hold about 1/2 a litre of fuel).
Re-fitting is just the same but in reverse (with slightly less swearing!
)
Why not spring clean the car while you have all the seats out, its amazing how much rubbish gathers!
