Technical Removing/cleaning MAF sensor

Technical Removing/cleaning MAF sensor

I have just changed my MAF and what a difference. Car is smoother, pulls better and the MPG readout is now changing dynamically in response to driving style and is registering much higher than it ever has since I have owned the car.

I bought one of eBay, I know guys have said they don't last long but for £36 I figure it was worth the gamble.

Just an update. I am afraid the £36 MAF was a waste of money. Blasted thing conked out a few months after purchase. Moral of the story you get what you pay for. Also eBay sellers "warranty" useless. Not interested in making contact. Running with it disconnected at the moment and am ordering one from Italy.

The Italian place mentioned earlier in this thread has an ebay store. Do a search for Italia Ricambi as the trader name (under the Advanced search options). Widen the search to European Union if necessary. Once you're in his 'shop', do a search for 0281 002 308 (the Bosch part number). Using Multipla as the search term doesn't bring it up, but the item description gives it as the correct fitment. Current price 98 Euros inc. shipping.

At least ordering it through ebay you get the buyer protection (plus it's nice and easy to pay by Paypal).

Dude, you're the man. Thank you. I did find his web site and in fact he takes PayPal directly from that but I do prefer to use eBay. As you say there is some recourse and you get to boost your ratings.

I am going to try and strip the old one and see what has gone wrong. I have an electronics background so if I can fix it I will return with my finding. The thing that everyone thinks is a resistor I believe to be a zener diode, it is certainly NOT a resistor. I will only know for sure once I have stripped it but as the wife needs the car every day I can't for now.

hello

Does anyone have a picture of were the MAF is, my fiat ducato 2.8 year 2003. cant seem to find it anywhere

Hi, shopping for genuine Bosch MAF sensor 0281002308 and found one for £83 which I am happy with!
However seller says the following for '06 115 Multipla Jtd which has me worried:

WARNING! 3 OTHER PART VARIATIONS EXIST FOR THIS VEHICLE (0 280 218 120, 0 281 002 792, 0 281 002 980)|Engine Code: 186 A8.000(M7/EU3)|To construction year: 2003 Oct

Is the original 0281002308 correct for my car please any guru?

Can an EU3 engine be in a 2006 car? EU4 came in 1st Jan 2006 for all new car registrations and implementation started at the beginning of 2005.

0281002308is the correct the Bosch MAF for EU3 engines. It has an extra feed in the connector compared to those for earlier models.
