Can anyone tell me how to change the clutch on my 1.9JTD 105SX. Can't get 1st or reverse most days. have changed the slave and the internals of the master cylinder as per this forums suggestions (thanks). Have bled the blasted thing several times and it gets better for about a minute and then goes back to being difficult. Usually can't get any gears in a crisis. :bang:.
Now contemplating changing the clutch. done a VW and a Vauxhall before but the multipla threads on this forum are scaring me:yuck: don't want to spend two days changing it and find out it was only needing bled. clutch has only done 50k as it was changed the week before I got it (garage who changed the clutch told me it didn't want to see the car again after the bother they had with it, this was after I bought it from another garage).. been decent for last 4 years. Interested to hear how to do it..

Mine is the same as yours , i can get all gears easy when the engine is off but not when running. i changed mine with a mech mate of mine and it took us 2 days with loads of feckin around , its not that bad to do we took the pass side drive shaft out and swung it out of the way as did with the other side but im sure we could have left the other in.
If i was u id get hold of a main shaft seal as mine was shot this is why mine was leaking box oil:mad: hard to find if your doing it on a sunday. starter motor can be a pain there is 3 bolts holding it and the one at the top was a pig we removed the battery and its tray along with various pipes to make more room.
Ill post more as i remember it:D.

Gotta do it again soon as the sunday clutch was made to fit:D.

Cheers.. got the pest out after dropping most of the subframe at front.. removing the pas side drive shaft. only two bolts holding starter motor. but finding loads of stuff that the set of cowboys who did it last time left hanging..
7 hours and its on the drive, spent more time faffin about with rusted-in bolts etc than the actual gearbox. Tangs on the pressure plate were all worn through, now just got to get it back together.
input seal is indeed leaking DOH.. :yuck: Can't remember which way out the plate came does the long centre spline point into or out of the g/box .
I think it points away from the gearbox and into the engine, but not sure if thats how it came off. Thats what i get for speaking to a visitor while taking the thing off...can anyone remember? 50/50 chance.

Any use?

I had similar trouble with my GP multijet at 85,000 miles, to make things a little better for a while I removed the rubber clutch pedal stop inside the car, this gave about 2mm more travel on the clutch and cured the problem!
I have now traded in for a new series2 multijet in white, looks great and i hope it serves as well as the old car

Thanks for the pic. Went to local dealer for a diff/gearbox input shaft seal for drive shaft and a couple of bolts, but got the " I'm not the usuall guy who works for Fiat"... "it is Saturday come back Monday and they will order it for you" So a weekend of the car sitting on the drive, and probably there all week until I get some time in the evenings to put it back together....
got any ideas of the part numbers ? I have an epr disc somewhere but just recently moved and can't find it now:confused:.
Bought a Stilo last week from the auction for my wife and son to drive, really nice but diff grinding on that, talk about lucky eh?? Not.... Think I might be lying under that in the near future, fortunately it was cheap to buy.

Just as long as its not an early sillyspeed one:eek::D good luck with the clutch mate.

still on the drive waiting on arnold clark to get me a seal. Bah:bang:
