I know this was posted a good while ago, but I've just had a very nasty shock from my Fiat dealer when I enquired about getting a replacement set of these bushes, as it seems the rubber bit between the chassis and the subframe has all but vanished causing a loud knocking noise every time I go over a bump.
Apparently the bushes are not available as a replacement part, needing to buy the complete beam instead, costing GBP 479 plus VAT!
YEH RIGHT!
Are Stilo ones the same, as they are a separate item?
Why do Fiat insist on making all their bushes non-replaceable?
Tossers... :bang:

I bought a whole new subframe with the bushes attatched for £20 off ebay:slayer:.
Its in my shed for the day i replace the trailing arms.

Mate, im in exactley the same situation, i need the front subframe rear bushes though. They say i need a new subframe as fiat dont have any bushes anymore, bull**** they dont!! Even universal ones must fit, there trying to have our pants down...... Dont fall for it!!

Had to replace my whole rear axle for last years MOT!!!

Total cost £975 !!!!!!!!!!!!!

£700 for parts

Local garage searched for bushes but no joy

Also the new rear axle had modifications around the bushes, so not sure if they have improved/strengthened it and the bushes?

Anyway I'm not planning on replacing the axle again for another 90k!

Just had this problem with my MOT. Wasn't impressed at the thought of having to buy an axle so took the motor to an old mate who has chased it up and found a VAUXHALL VECTRA has the same size rear suspension bushes (y)

Very interesting dannysdad and thanks for the info (y)

When are you planning to get these fitted? if you could let us know how the job goes and how well they fit etc that would be great as this is going to affect a whole lot of Multipla owners sooner or later.

Many thanks.

Thank you - very useful; I have just submitted a request for information regarding this very topic of front bushes for the rear sub-frame.

Please some clarification - is it all Vauxhall Vectra's or a particular year and/or model. Would be great if able to quote model number to local Partco company and then they can order the correct 'bushes' from Vauxhall Vectra and i can enjoy some 'happy' spannering hours.

A thought - why oh why do manufacturers of modern cars insist we cannot purchase replacement components only insisting we have to purchase replacement sub-assembly's. I thought we were all meant to becoming more environmentally conscious not wasting resources - if the EEC were serious on this subject they would financially penalise car manufactures that follow this wasteful process. (n)

I can still purchase replacement components for my 50 year old classic car - no sense in that at all!! (y)

Off my soap-box now!

Thanks to all :)

Mine are pretty deteriorated too, though no clunking sounds as yet. Hope it gets through the MOT at the end of the month!!

My Multi has just failed it's MOT on 'nearside rear upper suspension arm corroded and seriously weakened'.

It's looking likely i'll be needing a whole new/secondhand subframe. It's mainly the metal around the rear bush. That has rusted and crushed the bush.
Any ideas where I can get one from?

...while we're about it, if you're in South Norfolk, my mechanic who runs a one man operation, is a bit of a Sei and Pla expert now, having done al the usual (and some not so usual) work on all ours. He's cheap and good, PM me if you'd like his number.

This has been my successful way of replacing the multipla rear subframe bushes on my 52 plate:

I purchased quantity of 2x part number 90496681 - two rear subframe bushes - for the Vauxhall Vectra from a very kind and helpful chap called Albert @ Vauxhall Car Parts (01562 731442).

My mechanic had to machine about 1.5 mm of the aluminium casing of the bushes as well as the fabric and appropriate puller.

The rebound washer that sits under each of the bushes will need spacing with a few washers just to enable a gap to stop vibration transfer.

My mechanic managed to replace both without having to fully remove the subframe.

With labour (including the machining of bushes etc.), parts (2x 90496681 bushes) and vat, both bushes were replaced by my mechanic for £90!!!

This shouldn't fail...if your subframe itself is fine, DO NOT go to FIAT and pay £500 just for parts = £980 including labour!

FIAT ARE RIPPING OFF CUSTOMERS BY NOT MAKING SEPARATE BUSHES AVAILABLE TO THE MOTOR TRADE & THE GENERAL PUBLIC...!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE FROM A VERY PLEASED OWNER...

....MY SINCERE THANKS TO FORUM USER "BRIHL" FOR MAKING US ALL AWARE OF THIS GREAT WAY OF REPAIRING!

hi,all you need is a piece of rubber(mudgaurd will do) drop the axle ,take out the bush, youll see its shape, cut the rubber to the size of the washer, and a smaller piece to cover the middle(this will sit in place of the lip of thin rubber)and fasten back up,this cost me £60 instead of the £975 THAT FIAT WANTED if you email or text me ill give you the name of the garage that did this,it does work tel 01207 235435(y)

Are you talking about the one in the photo attached ?

Ok, I have the same problem, Mechanic has told me the rear, of the rear subframe bushes has gone, re the above post I have informed him that the Vectras Bushes will work. Question though are the front of the the rear subframe and the rear of the rear subframe bushes the same size? Will this Vectra bush work on all four of the rear subframe bushes? Hope this makes sense.
