6pm tomorrow night my new Dynamic Plus JTD Multi is getting delivered!!!

I shouldn't be quite so excited about it, but I am - I love the smell of a new car and the buzz you get for the first few weeks trying things out!

As a quick question, does anyone here know if the standard fit CD-stereo has an aux-input? I'd like to hook up an iPod direct rather than rely on an FM transmitter.

Can't wait!!!

First impressions

Got the Multi tonight. First impressions really good. It does feel "wide" - a bit like a minibus driving position, even compared to the Picasso that we're moving on from.

Nice pokey engine too - not driven a diesel before, but seriously impressed with the low rev pull.

The width is going to take a few weeks to get used to in terms of the confidence about where the nearside kerb is!

More posts as I get used to it!

Woohoo, glad you've already spotted it's strengths.

It's amazing how the JTD and Multijet engines can pull from 25mph in 4th quite easily.

Revs constantly below 2000rpm in town is great.

I just need to teach the missus to change up earlier than in her Sei and save some petrol.

Observation about the middle seats

I just want to check that this isn't just me being dumb...

All three of the back seats can be positioned in different "slots" so that they are about 10 cm further forwards (or backwards). In addition, the middle seat can slide in the same way that the drivers seat can.

Now, both myself and my wife are about 5ft 8in, so we have the drivers and passenger seat fairly well pulled forwards, which means that we could pull the left and right rear seats forward to increase boot space. But if I do the same with the middle rear seat, there wouldn't be any room for any legs because the middle front seat cannot move forwards or backwards.

Our 8 year old (boy) will be sat in the front middle seat most of the time, so his seat could be moved forwards so that it was in line with the driver and passenger seat, but there doesn't seem to be a mechanism for allowing that to happen. Is that right?

Hi Matt
Would it be worth starting a new thread for your question? May get more attention and a quicker answer:)

Re: Observation about the middle seats

Strange
Our 54 reg (new shape) has a sliding front middle seat. It doesn't slide as far forward as the left and right front seats, but the mechanism is the same.
Maybe it's a difference between the Dynamic and Eleganza ?

Checked the Multipla brochures (2004 & 2007) and there's no mention of it - only that the Eleganza has a sliding central rear seat ! Maybe the front and rear middle seats slide on the Eleganza only ?

I suspect you're right; we viewed a pre-reg Dynamic Plus and that had a sliding central rear seat despite the brochure only indicating that this was available on the Eleganza. Perhaps there is a recurring typo in the brochure, and it is meant to indicate that the front seat slides.

I wonder whether the sliding mechanism can be retro-fitted?

Whilst wiping some files, saved when I bought our Multipla, I found a screen dump from the Fiat website which prompted me to check the latest version.
On the Fiat.co.uk website, if you configure a new Multipla (Dynamic Family, Dynamic Plus or Eleganza) it lists "Folding, Sliding (Central Seat) & Removable Rear Seats" as a standard option. This only refers to the rear seats, but if the rear central seat slides then surely the front central seat should slide too.
