Re: something nice to say!

OK. We've had our 52 plate JTD since March and we love it! It's big enough for 6 (obviously) and small enough for around town. It's reasonably economical and hasn't given us any grief.
We had a 3l TD Toyota Granvia before the Multi and that was a really lovely motor. 7 Seats and all the bells and whistles but as it was primarily my wife's car she found it too big for day-to-day and at only 23ish mpg was beginning to be a big heavy cost-wise.
A friend of my wife bought a 56 plate facelift Multi, my wife drove it and said that we had to get one. We both prefer the "ugly bug" to the new ones. It's great, don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

Re: something nice to say!

We got our brand new car two weeks ago and last weekend I went camping with my 3 children and a friend and her son. It was roomy enough to fit us all in - plus the camping gear. Lovely drive too.

Our Multipla is black and square and it looks a bit like a taxi. I'd have loved it in red. Maybe I can accessorise with some stickers.

We live opposite a school and I can say for sure that there's no other like ours amongst the 400+ families.

Talking Re: something nice to say!

Got me a 2000 Multipla as a second car, nice and cheap from Ebay. Mainly got it as the kids were complaining too much about their legroom when Dad was driving .

Picked it up and took the kids for a drive they love the room and the tables between them are a winner.

Does need a bit of TLC but I'm actually enjoying getting my hands dirty.

Everyone in my area with kids knows my car as the Freaky Frog thanks kids, All in all I can say I love the Frog.

Considering getting it repainted form the grey but still not sure

Yes my six year old thought it was a funny name, then told all her friends when they were walking to school right past my car.

All kids wave at me now and even parents come up and ask "What car actually IS a freaky Frog?"

I think the name will be sticking

Re: something nice to say!

I've owned mine for over 2 years now, and have criss-crossed the country visiting friends and relatives in it, doing some 20000 miles in the process. it's a 2000 jtd, and has 104000 on the clock. I originally bought because my then girlfriend has two kids, but after we split I kept it, and occasionally still give them lifts. Previously I had a Cinquecento Sporting and it was a bit cramped with modern child seats in...
It's a dark metallic blue, quite a sober colour which seems out of keeping with the whackiness of the looks, but that didn't stop my brother memorably describing it as a melted toad, so now everybody calls it either the frog or the toad (I prefer the latter).
When I got it, it had new tyres and so far I've only had to replace the fronts. I've also had the common alternator belt problem (the second time the penny dropped and they replaced the tensioner), a crank sensor failure, a cracked windscreen, the front spring recall and the wear compensators for the back brakes.
I had a mishap involving a lorry veering across the road that destroyed a wing mirror and shattered the side window
And that's it. Reading some of the horror stories on this forum, I'm going to touch wood now but it has done me proud, cruises on the motorway beautifully, sips at diesel and has a nice and loud stereo. I honestly can't think of another car I'd like and really only the width is a handicap. Seating 6 in comfort is an occasional but useful bonus though.
I love the dash layout, the high-mounted gearlever, the smooth handling, the quietness at speed, the wide open spaces inside. I'm not so keen on the silly handbrake position, the seatbelts that don't spring back properly and the irritating squeaks from the front brakes. And the drivers seat can be a bit uncomfortable after 3 hours solid.
The make-or-break thing with Fiats seems to be the dealerships. My local one, Northgate in Canterbury, are so good I don't even bother phoning round the independents any more. An example is the windscreen: Autoglass originally quoted me £569, Northgate eventually did it for £240.

Smile Re: something nice to say!

I love our multi(2002 JTD)! Sure it has got some annoying features.... Most annoying has to be the electric height adjuster for the drivers seat.... More than once I've found the seat belt getting tight as I'm driving along the motorway (I guess I'll have to learn not to put my leg there!).

We've fitted an upgraded sound system including DVD screens, a couple of amps and a 15" sub, and we still don't have too many rattles!

We've been looking for a replacement, and sure theres plenty of MPVs to choose from, most have better specs but don't make you smile as you walk towards them!

Its amazing how much stuff you can get in the back of one of these things, they are HUGE when the seats are out!

Overall I'd say you won't find an MPV that'll make you feel as good as a multi does!
