Greetings All(y)

Thought i would start up this thread regarding my mission to own a Multipla!
Im a regular visitor to the Multipla section of late and thought id introduce myself!

Im Emma (obiously!) im a young 30 year old and live in Cheshire (NW), I have a small family of myself, Boyfriend and Daughter.

We are Fiat nuts and love all Italian metal:cool:. Currently we own 5 Fiats, a Uno MK1, Uno MK2, Uno Start, Brava, and a Seicento Turbo (currently for sale).
In the past we have owned between us, more Uno Turbos/Unos, Ford Fiesta, Pug205 GTI, Kitcar, Cinquecento, Seicento Sporting, Fiat 127.

Im desperate for a Multipla atm! I love them!!!:cool::cool: All im waiting on is the sale of my Seicento Turbo to fund it. Ive been a bit lazy on the advertising front and really need to get my bum in gear and sort it if im to get my Multi by the end of the summer:bang:

The Multi i choose to be mine will in the family to stay:) So am going to take my tome finding a good un!
Im impressed with the 1.9JTD version, and am in love with the 'orignal' look Multi, I appreciate they are a 'Marmite' car, and the reaction ive had of everyone ive told (and i mean everyone!!) is "ewwwww"(n)
Is this a normal reaction to Multi ownership? Especially amoungnst fellow Fiat owners?:( Coz im sick of hearing it all ready!!!

I like the optional bodykit, is it called Evolution? So am on the look out for one with this fitted. Might help to know the proper name for it to aid my search, if anyone can enlighten me please(y)

I also have in mind aftermarket alloys and some subtle window tints.

Has anyone reading this fitted aftermarket alloys? What are your experiences of this?

Finally...if youve got this far...thanks for reading! and i hope to be joining you real soon, hopefully i'll be united with a Multi in time for the Ugly Bug Ball next year(y):D

I can't help with the technical questions. Just wanted to comment on others' reaction when they see the Multipla. My husband and I went to look at a Citroen Picasso (which we didn't like) and the showroom was half-Citroen and half-Fiat. So we thought we'd have a look at a Multipla, all the better to laugh at it. So we did that, had a little laugh, then decided to go inside it - to laugh some more. That was only 3 weeks ago. Now we own the very one and we love it.

Hehee! Yey!! It will remember you laughed at it ya know, you better be very kind to it from now on;)

Emm,

I'm all jealous, only have room for two FIAT's in my house, altough I am trying to convince Mum to get herself a Punto instead of a Micra.

I can confirm that everyone I have told about my Multipla has said ewww or words to that effect. However once anyone with a family gets inside they normally change their tune, phrases like it's huge inside, how much room have you got in here, oh and a table in the front.

I won't be going back to anything smaller again.

As for the after sales add on I'm still looking around and I have a few niggles to get sorted out first. If you manage to find a good tinting place let me know though as I've always fancied that.

I did pick up a new stereo fasica from ebay does that count :p

Finally the new shape isn't anywhere near as cool, you have to love the original.

I found one on ebay a couple of months back that had tints, he said it cost £400 to tint the windows, which i thought wasnt too bad

Tints or not, I'd rather have the Fiat pop-in sun shields.

A friend of mine was stopped by the police for having windows that were too tinted (in the front -sides).

The pop-in Fiat ones are dirt cheap and you can remove them in Winter for more light.

Out of interest, Emma, who do you trust with your Fiat maintenance? Is there a garage in Cheshire that you'd recommend? I live on the northern border of Cheshire (Frodsham) but (from Saturday onwards!) will have a new Multi to add to my Barchetta - always on the look out for recommendations about where to trust the beloved italian workhorses!

Cheers!

Matt

These are identical to the ones I bought and are the original Fiat ones.

Essentially, you get six pieces of sunshades. Four for the two rear-most side windows and two for the rear windscreen - as you can see by the pic.

The two for the rear passenger windows are held in by stuck on clips (that don't mess up your paintwork) and friction. You can still put your rear windows down but it's recommended not to put them down by more than one third. One third is still an awful lot as the Multipla windows are soooo huge.

Ok, so the rear quarter windows just have pop-in shades. No clipping or unclipping needed.

The rear windscreen shades are fitted using stuck on clips and friction too.

It is recommended that for night driving that these are removed as dark tints/shades will always obscure your vision at night.

They come in a nice fiat bag too ;)

This kit is great for young kids, as they can see out during the day and won't get blinded by the sun. They can also sleep better in the back!!!!

I've just got myself a Multipla portable DVD holder that clips onto the back of the front headrest and watching DVD's is also much better with the shades in place.

Cheers for that info, very useful and could save me a fortune!(y)

From the pics provided, i like the look of them on the outside, but the shot of looking through them, looks dodgy, it looks kind of distorted, not clear like looking through tints. Is this just how the camera captured it i wonder?

Emm,

Have you used those black rollerblind or fixed size sun shields that you stick on your windows with rubber suction cups before?

If you have, then these are exactly like them and made from the same material.

It's illegal to take your front windscreen, driver window and passenger window beyond 30% tints. The other windows on your car can be as dark as you like (IIRC).

The problem with the darkest tints it they are permanant (obvious) and absolutely useless for visibility at night.

I like the light and airy feel of the Multipla and in winter it's nicer to enjoy as much light as poss when there's less glaring sun.

This is why I chose the pop-in ones over tinting. The glass on the Multipla is much more tinted than on my Saab, but then I'm not surprised as it has a great glass area and and it'll heat up sooooo much faster.

The standard glass is actually more comfortable to bear with than the standard glass on my Saab.

yeah ive had those roller blinds on the Brava (including the passenger front window shhh!) I can see through them alright, so if they are like them then thats:cool:
Ive also had tints all round on the Turbo Seicento for many years, recently removed the front ones to avoid being pulled over, they were legal when fitted but that was many years ago and now legally they were too dark (im guessing).
Your right about the night vision, it is very limited and takes some getting used too, as mentioned the sei's ones were rather dark compared to some newer type cars ive seen though.
I think i will hold fire on the tints (it was going to be the first thing i modified) untill the ugly bug ball next year, hopefully there will be one fitted with these shades and i can investigate further, the money saving issue is what is making them attractive to me at the mo;)

At the risk of sounding rather fussy....im not keen on the colour:eek:

That's the same colour as mine, and it's my favourite of all the Multipla colours. Try to look at one in the flesh, as it looks different in a picture. The colour changes with the angle of the light, a bit like those expensive colour change paints but not as pronounced.

(Is that nail in the nearside front tyre, or just a stone ?)
