Am I alone in thinking the double pivoted scissors action jack as supplied with the Multipla is a nasty, dangerous piece of crap? With the supplied crank handle it's awkward to use but far worse, the fact that the lift arms are float pivoted top AND bottom means it has no lateral stability. Maybe ok for lifting on a hard level surface, but on the side of a cambered road, or a yard with a gravel surface the car can very easily slide sideways and fall off the jack. I've just proved this............... My car's on Ebay, auction finishes in 3 hours. I had to move the car to get a couple of fish tanks out of the house and ran over a nail which went through the side wall of the tyre. Income from fish tanks; £41. Cost of tyre including fitting; £90. `Proffit'; minus £49. My daughter's on her way in from Dundee to give me a lift to Quickfit in Forfar. They close in just over an hour and a half...............

Bah Humbug

get a decent trolley jack for £16-20

I have a decent trolly jack. Unfortunately having been banned from driving on medical grounds following recurance of mild stroke symptoms, I have no use for it. Why didn't I use it to take the wheel off I hear you cry? Because the virtually brand new jack that came with the car looked at first glance to be a nice strongly made bit of kit that fitted the jacking point perfectly. It was only after the weight of the car was on it (but before I'd removed the wheel) that its ability to move sideways became aparent.
